Excellent shot. I suspect you cropped the shot to get this composition and I think it is perfect.
The only thing I can offer is your choice of f-stop. At 4.0, your depth of field is tiny. I'd suggest 8.0 or even higher and then adjust your ISO setting up (I'd be very surprised if you couldn't go as high as 1,000 or 1,250 and then denoise to get rid of any noise). You might also have room to slow down your shutter speed just a tad and still get the sharpness you want.

I have been trying for a shot like this for a couple of years, so I have to admit to some jealousy here. This is fantastic. The sky is perfect, the lines are eye catching and the hilliness of the land is very well shown.
I will use your image as motivation to get back out and continue my search. |

Great shot and very well timed. I love the action of the player reaching, the stance of her opponent watching to see if she gets the shot back or not, and finally the staid look of the 3 judges. Excellent story telling! |

Wonderful image. I wish I spoke the bird language because I'd love to hear what this little guy was saying.
I really like the out of focus wing tips. They add a sense of movement to the bird, as if her message was so strongly voiced that her body shook.
Love the colours.
I don't see what your camera settings were but I suspect the f-stop was such that it produced the out of focus wood plank just behind the bird. I'd prefer to see this in focus. This is a small point though - it is a great shot. |

My original version of this image had the poppies totally out of focus and after looking at the image for a week I decided that the centre poppies needed a bit of definition. I did try them being very sharp but settled in a middle ground of sharpness. Thanks for the idea. |

This is an impactful image - really like it! For me, the composition is perfect. Having the lady far left and leaving all that space to the right gives me the impression of a lot of contemplation or maybe soul searching going on.
I think the slight blurring of the right side also helps frame the mood - the girl is not so much looking at the scene as is deeply immersed in thought.
I am a strong believer in proper titles (even though I don't always practice what I preach) and your title is very helpful in understanding the image. |
