Thank you for your comments Lance.
I read your article (and I'll have to read it at least once more to really get the messages from it) but I was struck by your discussion of "seeing" an image.
I think there is a gestalt with my image that goes beyond the tent and sky and beach. I wish I had the words to describe what I was trying to do with this image. I felt this image and knew it was what I wanted. Now I need to try and learn how to verbalize it.
Wonderful article and I will take another dive into it.

Hi George, David & Laurie,
I appreciate your feedback and idea of cropping the image. The example shown certainly does look very nice.
This may sound very silly, but the "feel" of the cropped image (to me) is entirely different and not what I felt when I stopped and took my shot. I wish I was better able to verbalize my feelings that I sometimes have when taking a shot. I just knew that the tent belonged close to the left edge and I needed a lot of sky and beach for this image to be what I wanted.
Best regards,

As with Prasad's image, thank you for sharing the story behind how you got such a great shot. The Northern Lights are on my bucket list to see and shoot and your image is exactly why I must do this. Fantastic image.
Love that you included some of the land horizon across the bottom. It adds to the immensity and impressiveness of the display.
Looks like you also got a meteor (or maybe a jet) in the image. |

Fantastic shot and wonderful sharpness. The detail is so good I can see the yellow helmet of the pilot in #1 jet.
They do look like they are flying out of the image. A bit more space on the left side might help with giving the jets "room" to fly. |

First, thank you for the narrative on how you planed and executed the shoot. Very insightful and I learned from it. I think the story of how a shot came about is often as interesting as the shot itself.
Mostly going to repeat what has already been said. The shutter speed (whatever it was) was spot on for just the right amount of blur. It's a sea of moving people.
Also, would have liked to temple (looks like a temple to me) top left would have been nice to see it all. I suspect it was a trade-off for you. More temple means smaller people so less impact of them and their apparent movement. |

If I may offer a suggestion re the owl's attitude, it appears to me that he hasn't had his 1st cup of coffee. That how I look when I don't get mine.
Lovely colours and just the right amount of sharpness. The soft background is perfect although I'd be tempted to tone down the brightish yellow areas of the background. This idea is a very minor suggestion - I'd be proud if this was my shot. |

Very nice image. I do like the rocks as leading lines to the mini waterfalls. The trees have great colour. I also like the composition, the water leads my eyes nicely upstream.
I think I see some colour aberrations on the bare branch at the top and also along the tree line behind it. Cold the colour be a tad over saturated? |
