Hi Erin. Where in Colorado was this taken? Is it near Denver? I agree that the image has a very nice color palette and the sharpness of the bloom itself really calls attention to it in the vast countryside around it. I think Greg's crop suggestion does improve the impact of the image, especially since it leaves out the fence post and lower rail, which emphasize the fact that the fence is out of focus. The tree in the background is an important compositional element and becomes more so with Greg's suggested crop. You picked a wonderful spot to capture this lovely scene!

Hi Tom. The sky in this really is amazing and has a wonderful glow - almost apocolyptic. You've done a great job with the buildings and their lights in the dusk. Since you have cropped it to be a panorama, I understand why you left in the blank foreground in front of the fence, but it doesn't add any content and I feel like it detracts from the rest of this interesting image. I agree that it would be an improvement to reduce that empty space and, perhaps you could increase the amount of sky above the buildings. If that information is not in your original image file, it would be interesting to see what the PS generative fill or even just the content aware fill might create to increase the space in the sky above the buildings. Looks like it was a great night to be out with photography friends! |

WOW Greg! I'm amazed how dramatic, well composed and action packed your final image is when compared to the original. Post processing is an art, and you have excelled with this one. The cowboy's shirt is bright, but I love the detail and the wrinkles, etc. The only thing that I find a little distracting is the way the left horn of the steer disappears into the shadows. Maybe you could retrieve an outline of that horn at least. I love the way you've handled the light underneath the group. It appears to be glowing and kicked up dust is perfect.
Thanks so much for sharing this! |

Hi Karen. This is a great minimalist image and I love the repeating patterns and leading lines. Converting to black/white was definitely a good decision to emphasize the geometric strength of the image. The hint of shadows also increase the effectiveness of the image. It also has a very interesting backstory which I enjoyed very much. I have no suggestions - great job! |
