Hi Darcy. Thanks for your comments. The stained glass effect is the result of the Topaz filter. I only applied the filter at a low opacity to create a more painterly effect. At full opacity, it looked surreal.:) |

Thanks, Tom. I also wonder what's inside the building, but, as usual, I'm a drive by photographer. Thanks for your compliments! |

Hi Kamal. I really enjoy seeing the images you share from your part of the World. Your post processing has done an excellent job of making the village more visible and I also enjoyed zooming in to see the details. It is very interesting that this is a temporary village. Seeing the figure working in the garden was a fun surprise. The diagonal nature of the village in the frame is great compositional technique. Thanks for sharing this! |

Hi Erin, I grew up outside of Boston and love the view you have captured. The fog is outstanding. Although I think Tom's idea for adding contrast to the buildings in front is a good suggestion, I think I'd aim for something in between the original and Tom's version. I agree about cropping out most of the building on the left, but I would leave a sliver of it to create a balance with the tall building on the right. I love how the grey of the sky/fog is mirrored in the grey of the water framing the buildings nicely. I wasn't an avid photographer when I lived in the Boston, but your image makes me thinking that I should go back to visit with my camera in hand! |

Hi Tom. This is a beautiful composition and I love the way the blur makes the orchids appear to be glowing. I agree about toning down the white area in the bottom right as well as the green leaf at the top middle. I spent some time looking at your original too, and there is definitely another lovely composition available if you cropped it just above and below the group of orchids. Thanks for sharing this! |

Hi Greg, This is a beautiful bird portrait, and the pelican has struck a great pose for you. I love the colors, the fact that his beak is touching the water, and the lovely texture that you've captured in the water. My first reaction was that seeing the entire reflection would be beneficial, but upon further consideration, it might detract from the bird himself and his amazing, sharp dramatic eye. This one is definitely a candidate for printing and framing! |

Hi Darcy. I think this is a wonderful image and I love the sweeping curved lines. I think the panoramic aspect ratio really helps to emphasize the curves and creates a great composition with the arch of the window in the background. I didn't really notice the blurred figures until I read Tom's comment, but I agree that they help to give the image context. This image might also be a good black/white candidate. |

This is a very minimalist and dramatic image and I love your concept. I agree that the tree line is hard to discern, but, if you just lighten the blue of the sky, I think it would be perfect. The image tells a great story and is very effective. Good luck with the competition and let us know how it fared! |

Thanks, Nadia. I do like the square composition you have created and it's eliminated the need to nix the ant. No one has mentioned the bright spot on the left middle border, but I can see that it needs to be blended in better. |

Thanks, Doug. Darkening the edges really points out to me that I need to darken the bright white spot on the left edge middle. |

Hi Rich. This is a beautiful composition and I also like both versions. Your presentation is very painterly and that complements the flower well. You should be very happy with this image! |

Hi Kamal. Although the background is busy, I like the fact that you have left the flowers in their natural habitat instead of floating on a plane background as you have done in other flower compositions. I especially like the fact that you have separation between the two flowers and they are not running together. Although I would like to see the background more out of focus, I would suggest at least removing the light colored branch below the left flower and the light colored lines coming out of the right flower, as well as darkening the sky, The color of these blooms is beautiful and I like your crop and textured treatment (is that the Photoshop Oil Painting filter?) |

Hi Doug. I love the simplicity of this image and the curved stem really adds a great element to the composition. The colors of the tulip stand out nicely from the background and I actually like the fact the the stem is a similar color. I enjoyed hearing that this is a Kathleen Clemons background. I went to one of her workshops years ago in Charleston, SC and have been following her ever since. I'm sure she would compliment you on this image too! |

Hi Nadia. The color of that rose is amazing and you have captured it perfectly. You have done a wonderful job of extracting it from the background and the background you have created is also very well done. I think the most impressive part of this image is the quality of light and mood you have created that definitely gives this group of roses an emotion and quality that was not present in the original image. I have no suggestions :) |

Hi Bob. To my eye, this looks like a braided rug with beautiful colors that would probably not look right in most living rooms! Your technique has created a very unique abstract composition and I found it very interesting to explore all of its details. My favorite of the three is Original 1 which I really love! |

Thanks, Bob, for catching the ant???? completely missed him, and will be humanely removed. Good catch on the blemish as well -easily remedied. I appreciate your careful observation. |
