3 Jan 25 Comment Hi Ruth. Just visiting your group out of curiosity, and was immediately drawn to your image. This is amazing, and your post-processing has definitely emphasized the unique root system of these trees. I also love the scattering of the leaves among the root system. I've been to Kauai many times and never experience these trees. THANK YOU! Ingrid (Group 14,80) Jan 15th

14 Jan 25 Comment I agree with Tom's comments above and couldn't say it better! Happy New Year! Jan 15th
14 Jan 25 Comment Hi Erin. I love the way you have captured the texture and definition in the feathers on this heron's wings and tail. The light is perfect as well. Your placement of the bird in the frame is also great, creating a diagonal composition and giving the heron just enough space as he flies up and out. I also debated whether it would be a good idea to remove the blurred branches in the lower left corner, but would only suggest it if the lovely droplets of water could be preserved. This is a wonderful image! Jan 15th
14 Jan 25 Comment My first reaction was "WHOA!" What a wonderful capture of this interesting creature. Your focus is amazing and the the splashes of his wings in the water are wonderful. I agree with cropping out the lighter water in the foreground, and would probably take out some of the water on the left as well, both as a composition technique, but also to eliminate the floating light colored object, which draws attention away for the main event. Thanks for sharing this! Jan 15th
14 Jan 25 Comment Hi Greg. This is a great image with a great story, and with a lot left up to the imagination of the viewer. I especially like your white border, which makes the image look like a snapshot developed at the local drugstore decades ago. Your exposure, composition and focus are extremely well done. Thanks for sharing. It definitely made me smile! Jan 15th
14 Jan 25 Comment Hi Darcy. What a great trip you must have had! You did a great job of capturing the architecture of this town and the terraced hills around it. I think your crop is perfect. Although the white building in the upper left draws the viewer's attention, I think it adds context and definitely helps the story. Hard to believe that the population is only 353. I bet that's a tight knit community where everyone knows everyone else's business. Although the church tower has a prominent position in the exact middle, I think the surrounding colorful and interesting residences tell the real story of the town and I love them just as they are. Now I want to go there! Jan 15th
14 Jan 25 Comment Hi Karen. This is an amazing scene, and a unique one. The wide angle view does a great job of conveying the immense character of the scene and the deepness of the canyon down to the river. I think that Tom's edit to bring out the texture of the rocks on the right was a positive suggestion. In the original, the interesting shadows on the left face draw the viewer's attention a bit too much, detracting from the brighter 2/3 of the scene. I agree that the grasses in the foreground add a great sense of space and make the viewer feel more present in the scene. Thanks for sharing this as I'm fairly certain that I will never be able to get to that view! Jan 15th
14 Jan 25 Comment Thanks, Darcy. I never even noticed the orange fence and can easily make it go away! Jan 7th

80 Jan 25 Reply Thanks, Doug! Not sure I understand the word "imminence" of the purple - vibrance maybe? I appreciate your comment, Ingrid Jan 22nd
80 Jan 25 Comment Thanks, Rich. Great idea about darkening the upper stem. It is happening as soon as I leave this site! Jan 15th
80 Jan 25 Reply Thanks, Bob. I appreciate your compliment! Jan 15th

80 Jan 25 Comment Hi Rich. My first reaction was "what a gorgeous dancing flower!" You have taken a beautiful stationary bloom and made it appear to be swaying majestically. Your focus stacking worked perfectly and the colors are wonderful. I see the hot spot that Bob mentioned, but I doubt I would have noticed it without his comment. This image definitely needs to be printed and displayed! Jan 15th
80 Jan 25 Comment Hi Kamal. I really like the treatment you have applied to this flower, and the the different texture on the background. I agree that the three black spots should be removed as they detract from the calmness of the image. I also love the sharp smoothness of the original flower, and think that it would also make a great image without the paint filter. Jan 15th
80 Jan 25 Comment Hi Doug. Great Wabi Sabi image! I love the color transitions and the pattern and texture of the leave as it slowly decays. I also love the way the leaf leans slightly to the right in what I would call a jaunty angle. I'm also jealous of your camera's ability to focus stack. :) Jan 15th
80 Jan 25 Comment Hi Nadia. This an amazing portrait of a magnolia after a rain, and your extraction from the background and replacement with a contrasting background is flawless. I love the water droplets and the fact that they are natural as opposed to being added with a spray bottle - you can definitely see the difference. My only suggestion would be to work on eliminating the imperfections on the leaves along the stem below the flower, as well as darkening them. Their jagged edges and lighter color demand too much attention away from the beautiful bloom. Beautiful image! Jan 15th
80 Jan 25 Comment Hi Marti. I really like the composition of this and the sparkly texture caused by the flash. Your focus is perfect and I love the contrast between the sparkle and the smoothness of the center and the stamen. My only suggestion would be to clone out the imperfections in the upper left corner, which draws the viewer's attention unnecessarily. And I'm interested to see an image from you that doesn't need a stroke. :) Jan 15th
80 Jan 25 Comment Hi Bob. Your creation is very vivid and eye catching. I would never have guessed that it was an image based upon leaves, but maybe from a fire dancer at a nighttime fair. I love the symmetry and the curves coming off the top and bottom on the middle swirl to create that symmetry. As an aside, I REALLY like your original mirror image of the sharp leaves against the blurry green background. With a little more post-processing on that one, it would be a truly stunning minimalist image. Jan 15th
