Thanks, Erin. I'll try rotating the flower a bit and see if it works better. Ingrid |

Thanks, Karen. The 4 o'clock petal is the one I worked on, but it was only the bottom tip. I'll see if I can make the top less muddy, as you described it. Ingrid |

Hi Kamal. I also said WOW to myself as I opened this image. Your choice of black and white was excellent and the lighting makes this a very dramatic and effective image. Since the background is so black, it's difficult to see where the image ends and the black of the site starts, but I think your crop is effective. I also think that the hands and emblems help the composition. This is very different from our usual submissions, and I like it A LOT! |

Welcome Erin. The lighting in this image is very effective and I love the dust kicking up around the catcher's feet. I think Tom and Karen's cropping suggestions are well noted, especially since it gets the subject out of the exact center of the image and eliminates the slightly non-vertical fence post which draws the viewer's eye away from the catcher. This is an excellent photo journalistic image. |

Hi Tom. That sounds like a really fun trip. You are lucky to have 6 friends with similar interests. I think the sky is wonderful and darkening some stars to emphasize the milky way was very well done. I really like the way you have shown light on the building, but I agree that it might be more effective if the verticals were vertical. I love the green glow of the grass creating a good base to contrast with the dark sky. Overall, this is an excellent night image and has a wonderful atmosphere and mood. |

Hi Greg. This is a great capture and you have done an excellent job of stopping the motion and getting the horse and thrown rider in perfect focus. I agree with the idea of flipping the guy with the white hat, but I think you have handled the background well, giving the subject context but making it dark enough and slightly our of focus to allow the subject good separation. Congrats! |

Hi Karen. Minimalist photography is one of my favorite categories in photographic styles, and your image definitely qualifies. I like your crop, but I think I agree with Tom that having the wheat stalk drawing the eye into the frame from the right might be more effective. I love the contrasting colors of gold and blue and I think the clouds are an important element. If it were mine, I would clone out of the other smaller and less sharp wheat stalks to make the composition just the sky, the golden stripe at the bottom and the solitary wheat stalk. Solitary Sea Oat would be my choice for a title. |

David. You've done a great job of bringing life to this image. My only suggestion would be to darken and blur the background just a bit more. Ingrid |

Shirley, your crop made all of the difference. The final image is well composed and interesting. Only thing I'd recommend is to clone out the little green leaf in the upper left corner. Ingrid |

Marti, simplifying the image really brought this to life. Your masking work was excellent and the black background is effective. It does seem to be floating in the space, though, and it might have helped to leave in a little more of the original down to the right corner as a anchor. Ingrid

Linda, you've done a great job of bringing texture and vibrancy to this peony. The only suggestion I have would be to crop a little at the top to just above the leaves since that part of the flower doesn't have much detail or interest. A little extra on the right might help as well. Ingrid |

Randall, I'll also miss seeing your images and hope you enjoy the bird group. I belong to another general group and we lost one of our members to the bird group as well. It is amazing what you found within the original black image and I like how you've handled it. |

I like the crop and the addition of the Topaz filter and the purple highlights, but I also think the original would be a nice atmospheric image as well if cropped in a similar fashion.I found this month's assignment difficult and interesting. |
