thanks, Kamal. I always struggle to reduce my image size to meet the criteria for this site, and I guess I overdid it this time. Ingrid |

Thanks, Tom. I always struggle to resize my images to fit into the size criteria for uploading on this site. How do you determine was dimensions solve the problem?

Hi Kamal. Thi is a very interesting and graphic image. The contrast of the blue nets against the muddy water is striking. I agree with the cropping suggestion made by Tom. I always look forward to seeing what interesting subject you find for our monthly review. You have such amazing opportunities! Ingrid |

This is a beautiful capture and the details of the bird are very well captured. I agree that a little bit of a crop off of the left would be an improvement, but overall it's a beautiful capture. I hope you enjoy your new bird group! ingrid

Hi Tom. My initial impression was that this was an abstract image and I didn't identify what it actually is until I looked at the original and say the arch and the foliage beyond. I think I would prefer an end result somewhere between the original and your final image, perking up the color of the foliage but not losing the context of the stone arch. As an abstract, it does grab the viewer's attention since the colors are so electric and dramatic. ingrid |

Greg - this is an amazing image, and I congratulate you on achieving such a great result, a very clear capture of the milky way and light on the foreground enough to give it texture and form, but not to make it look artificially lighted. I love the composition and the atmosphere. This image could definitely win a 'BEST NIGHT' photography image in my Camera Club, and there are some very talented night photographers in the group. Hi Darcy. The complimentary colors of the lavender flower against green background works well. Although the main flower is a little soft, I love that you can see the individual petals and the little white blossoms within the blossum. I agree that it would improve the image to have the bright leaves darkened a little, although they do provide some leading lines pointing towards the main bloom. I always find it fun to spend time in a blooming garden, even in light rain. Ingrid |

Hi Karen. I, too, have avoided doing photography at weddings, mainly because of the stress of getting everything well recorded for such an important event in people's lives. You are a wonderful friend, and, if this portrait is an indication, it looks like you handled it well. I love the way you have draped the fabric of the dress - it really shows it off nicely. I agree with the others' suggestion of straightening the horizon and cropping, and the double vignette is also a great idea. I also like how you have positioned her hand showcasing her ring. |

Thanks, Randall. I was going for a dramatic graphic effect, rather than soft, but I understand your thought and I feel the same way in many cases. Ingrid |

David - this is beautiful and you have done a great job. It might be interesting to substitute a blurry green background for the black to better simulate the actual surroundings and have a complimentary color, rather than black - just an alternative |

I love flowers that are backlit and you have captured the translucense of the petals very well. I like the bee in profile, hovering. I agree that isolating the main subject flower with a wider black background in a square format works well. ingrid |

Marti - this is a beautiful rose and I found it very interesting to see the edits that Linda suggested. I like her second example best. It's amazing how taking one rose out of a bouquet really allow the viewer to focus on the beauty in the details. Ingrid |

What a gorgeous color. Eliminating the green leaf spot in the upper right was definitely the right decision, but I think I like the definition in the original, which better shows the lovely fluttering curves of the petals. I like David's edit. It might be interesting to try a slight vignette. Ingrid |

This is a striking minimalist image and I love the way you've captured the veins in the leave and used them to create an interesting composition. I think I would try to eliminate the black black spot in the lower right, but rather than cropping it, I would used the skew tool in PS to drag the edge of the leaf down to the lower border. This would avoid having the 'V' of the leaf ribs coming right out of the corner. Ingrid |

Hi Gene. I love the perspective you have achieved with this image and the red poppies show up nicely against the very blue of the sky. I also love the way the light is hitting the "whiskers" on the stems. Although it's probably a perspective warping due to the angle of your camera, I really like the way the flowers are leaning towards the middle of the frame. I think you've done a good job with this image! ingrid |
