Hi Xiao. This is a very nice capture of this sweet bird, and the depth of field really does a nice job of setting the bird apart and the coloring of the background also complements the bird well. I agree that it would be an improvement if you removed the small twigs that draw the viewer's eye off the left hand side of the image.

Hi Tom. This is a beautiful night scene and I love the way you've handled the sky and moon, and the star effects on all of the lights. I'm struggling to come to a conclusion about the green grass and rocks in the forground. On the one hand, it gives a context on where you are standing, but on the other hand, it's draws the eye away from the city scene and does have much interest. A panorama crop just above the foreground element would also be a powerful composition.

Hi Kamal. This is a very nice capture and it made me smile as well. Although, I can see that cropping out the left might give more emphasis on the two primary subjects, but I like seeing the third deer observing the action and think it adds a nice component to the story. Your post-processing is very effective.

Hi Greg. This is an amazing capture and really captures the mood and historical nature of the place. The lights with the star features are really effective and I agree with the others that the reflection of the lights in the puddles on the bridge really adds to the atmosphere and effectiveness of the image. I also agree with Tom about trying to recover some detail in the middle tower, although I think the dark trees on the left are ok as is since they are more of a bookend to the scene. This is a very charming scene and I think you have done a great job of composing, shooting and processing it. |

Hi Darcy. I envy your opportunity to visit the Palouse. I've seen many images of the area, but I don't think I've ever seen one with the hamlet in the foreground, which makes your image unique. I love the shadows of the clouds playing across the field. I also like the tree line at the top of the frame, creating a border to reflect the border of the buildings on the bottom. My only suggestion would be to try to increase the contrast just a smidge to bring out the patterns of the fields. Overall, I think it's a very successful and pleasing image. |

Hi David. The IPhone comes to the rescue again. I LOVE this image, it's sharpness, color, lighting and presenation. I especially love that you selected a bloom that is not a nice compact circle, but has errant petals that gives it interest and a whimsical feel.

Hi Shirley. I like your composition and the fact that it is not a dead center presentation which is used often for Poinsettias. The painterly effect is also nice. I would probably clone out the little green on the left hand edge of the poinsettia on the left because it looks like it happened by mistake. Happy Holidays! Ingrid

This is a gorgeous tulip and lighting. You have done an excellent job in post-processing separating the flower from its background. I agree that reversing the image direction is an improvement, but other than that, I don't have any suggestions. Happy Holidays, Ingrid |

Hi Gene, Wow - this is beautiful and your post-processing is amazing. I actually like the fact that there is some patterning in the background to give the composition more depth.
