Thanks for all of your comments. I tried to darken the trunks of the trees a bit, per several of your suggestion, as well as darkening the upper right corner. What do you think?

Hi Syed. Until I read your description, I did think that this was kind of circus daredevil act. I'm amazed at the detail and sharpness that you were able to capture with a phone. The posture and outstretched arm of the subject is an excellent capture and adds a sense of movement. My only suggestion would be to try cropping out the lower beam and a bit off the left hand side of the image. This would put the figure a bit more off-center and emphasize the tightrope walking aspect of the his job. (Not a job I'd volunteer for!!!!) |

Hi Xiao. This portrait has a nice contemplative atmosphere and I like the way you have cropped, straightened and darkened the building on the right side to eliminate the distracting white stripe in the original. The texture of the jacket is great, but I would probably darken the pants just a bit, so that the sharp sharp stripe doesn't capture so much attention. I also like how you've darkened the street to make the rose show up in contrast, but I wish the rose had a bit more texture. I would never have guessed that this was taken in Philadelphia. It could be a scene in Europe. Your model looks very natural and relaxed. thanks. |

Hi Tom. This is a great subject and a great image. I agree that lightening the image just a tad would make the help bring out more detail in the building which is very interesting. I think the foreground is an important part of the composition, though. I also like the black and white version. |

i envy your photography trip to a working ranch! This is a beautiful portrait and I love the positioning of the cowboy and horse on the diagonal and some clearly connected. They are clearly a team. You did a great job of highlighting the cowboy's face and the horse's eye. I like both versions. I can see the benefit of showing the mountain top, but the cropped version, although loosing the fact that it's mountain, places more emphasis on the cowboy who is your primary subject. I personally like the warm treatment. |

Hi Darcy. I love the black and white treatment of this image, and especially appreciate the textures and patterns in the lower part of the mountain. My only suggestion for improvement would be to try to get some more detail out of the fog, maybe reducing the highlight slider in the Camera Raw filter much give you some. It is a captivating scene. Thanks. |

Hi Karen. The colors in this image are gorgeous, and it must have been wonderful to be on the beach to witness this. I like the composition with the diagonal beach edge, the building on the left providing a human presence and anchor and the lovely star created by the sun as it peeks over the horizon. I agree with the others about the soft focus and the blown out white portion of the sky. Since it would be difficult to return to reshoot this scene, I might try to make it more painterly with the help of photoshop and to clone in some low opacity cloud texture into the blown out section. And although the colors may be the intensity that you saw, reducing the vibrance a little bit might make it more peaceful and dreamy, which I'm sure it was. |
