Like you, I don't do standing in cold water on slippery rocks. Much too dangerous. |

I like both! I think you've retained enough of the mist so if the viewer hadn't seen the colour, they would have thought it was misty. It looks sharp enough as well. I like the movement seen in the water and I thought this was quite beautiful. It gave a feeling of peace and isolation. It also looked as if you were standing in the water which could be a little scary. |

Thanks for all the advice about the ISO. I do have plenty of memory so that shouldn't be the problem. I have considered uninstalling and reinstalling Lr and Ps since some online advice says that works too. It is frustrating when it happens in the middle of processing a photo because it is RAW which disappears and I have to close and reopen so I lose some of what I've done. I keep meaning to try photos with higher ISO than usual and then experiment to see what will work and what won't. I use a higher shutter speed than I used to because of arm/hand tremor when holding a camera -or else use my monopod- so I am starting to need a higher ISO as well. |

I think the path to the death was actually between the fences so not along the grass. During the time of the concentration camp, I suspect the path would have been gravel or concrete. If it had been earth or grass, it would have become mud due to the passage of so many thousands of people. |

I have been having problems with some of the denoise in Lr -it seems to crash my computer so I've used the DXO one which I paid for when it came out. I usually try to keep the ISO below 1000 but it does mean that some shots just don't work. I must be brave and try higher levels! |

This is beautiful and I'm not surprised it sells well. The framing works for a print but not for projecting because there is too much brightness all round. You've left a semblance of foliage below the rose and removed the leaf sticking up above it-which works well. Congratulations! |

I think this is a good portrait and I like the slightly sad expression - or it could just be him remembering his old life. I think the contrast is about right. I agree that the beam is too light and needs to disappear -the light brown one has already gone and the dark one should go too. |

This is a good record shot which would take its place in a sequence to show what Ephesus is like. It is never going to be an exhibition shot but we all take images like this to show what the place looked like and it is interesting. I agree with Som that cropping off the top helps the image because it has so many distracting lines and is too white. As you say, some people lived in rich houses. |

That is such a marvellous expression. I agree that the background probably needs altering but you'd need to experiment and darken the tree trunk. I am amazed that you got such a good image from such a high ISO. Overall it does need some more processing to make it have more impact and it is worth doing because of the interesting stance. |

I think it is a question of what effect you wanted. I quite liked the light original mono even though it didn't look like the colour version. I particularly liked the white daisy , bottom right, which stands out well from the lily. then I read the comments and looked at the dark mono version and thought that also was interesting. I like the dark sky in both. I agree with Somdutt that close ups of a few leaves would make a super abstract - you could produce a triptych of different shapes. |

The ghosts of Auschwitz are a superb way to remind us of the people who died there. Thanks for directing me to them. |
