Thanks! Mice are super subjects but you have to be quick to get them. |

I like the near silhouette of the booted man as because he is so black and fractionally out of focus, I think he provides a frame for the rest of the shot. I kept moving around the mid and back areas because there was so much going on. The loco also provides a stopper on the left edge. It is much better in mono than colour- more drama showing. Interesting shot. |

I think you are right-there would be plenty of critters living there. I would have taken this shot as well -old buildings with great texture features are a must. It is also so much better in mono than colour. My only critique is that I wonder whether it isn't too central. The sunlit part is on the left facade and this is very close to the frame edge. You've placed it very centrally, but would a larger area to the left and a closer crop on the right have made it more pictorial. Here it is too much just a record shot. |

OK I know I often say increase the contrast! I think I will this time, but only on the line of taps. They don't stand out enough for me and they are an essential part of the story here. So could you lighten their background and leave the taps blacker? A bit fiddly but it could work well. The children provide a focal point once the viewers' eye has gone along the lines of perspective.
Was the mosque more elaborate than usual? |

Interesting that there is a London Books shop in Japan. There must be a large contingent of English speaking people there to warrant a bookshop. I think Tom's cleaning up is needed. I disagree with Steve - I think the inclusion of a figure is essential to the scene- it would be very static without anyone. A figure suggests there are more people around . |

It is such a peaceful scene, and I can imagine sitting there and just enjoying the sound of the water trickling past and looking at the Autumn leaves and colour. I liked the whole shot you started with. Cropping off either top or bottom changes the points of interest and I liked it as it was. I might have increased the contrast just on the leaf strewn boulder in the stream.
I suspect this would also work as a colour image. I have several like it taken in Autumn. |

I agree that the removal of the white areas improves it enormously. I would also darken down her figure behind so that the cup is the whitest area and the viewer concentrates just on the hands and cup. I can understand her dislike of the hands -I don't like that my knuckles are starting to seem more prominent.
Happy Christmas and I hope you have a healthy New Year |

Ok, yes probably a tighter crop than mine is better. Thanks. |

NO, not my mouse. The only mice we regularly came across are field mice because my cat caught them and brought them into the house and then let them go. I am an expert at catching mice in welly boots though I then progressed to a humane mouse trap baited with peanut butter - a sure fire way of trapping them - and then releasing them back to the nearest field. Yes, I have lots of photos where the tail is wrapped round a stalk. |
