Yes I do -it means I know where to position the lights and what to set my camera on. Very useful! |

I think you are right that the detail has gone from her face so I will have to work on that before using it in a comp. We had an evening on Friday at our club with a local actor who arrives with his backdrop, lights, costumes and proceeds to tell us exactly what to set our cameras on and then he poses all evening for everybody. We all go home with really good pictures, but they can only be used outside the Club because we all have the same, or else in montages with different backgrounds. You probably will see one of these later when I've had time to process them. The other problem here is that he will reproduce the same evening for other local clubs so there are even more of these pictures around. |

I am with everyone else here-the colour is lovely -that magenta glow in the sky is beautiful. I'm not a fan of these early sunrise or late sunset pictures going into mono, as for me, the magical, shortlived colour is paramount. I've just been reviewing some I took of the afterglow in Monument Valley and although they probably would never get anywhere in a competition, I find them very satisfying. |

On my monitor, the highlights look fine and the overall contrast is good. The choice of preset with an suggestion of an old frame works well. I might have tweaked the perspective just a little because there is a hint of the house leaning back. This would work well in a sequence of shots of the lighthouse to show its location and different aspects of it. |

Yes definitely improved by converting to mono -the original looks grey but presumably you haven't improved it at all. When I first saw it, I thought it was just happenstance that it resembled Don Quixote, and then I read your explanation and all was revealed. I don't think he would have come up against snow before! You've got really good texture in the snow. |

I didn't feel I needed the story -despite it being interesting. I wondered if the second hand at the bottom was the only problem. I thought your treatment of the rest worked well and it certainly worked in mono. Maybe you could clone in a darker bit at the edge of the frame on the left where there is a much lighter bit. I did like the out of focus head on the right. I don't think it works in colour because the red background pulls the eye away from the hands. |

I agree with Tom because the flowers aren't big enough blooms to be an interesting foreground. I like the craggy rock textures though. Maybe as Somdutt suggested, the colour version would make more of the flowers. However I feel that they would pull the eye away from the lighthouse because they are separated from it by so much rock. Getting lower down to foreshorten the whole space would not work because the rocks would then start to hide the lighthouse. Re the blank sky, either import a different one of your own -preferably a looming cloudy, stormy one, or accept that white one and make it a softer overall feel as if it is slightly foggy rather than just overcast. |

I also would have been taking this tractor in its entirety as well as in close up . I like the green covering it and Somdutt is right that the environment is doing its best to envelop and take it over. My only suggestion for the bright sky is to use content aware fill for some of it and also clone bits in to break up the outline. You definitely need to do something if you want to use in colour, but I thought the darkening worked better in the mono. |

Maybe by then she was feeling tired as she was on duty all day for different photographers though they did have several models who swapped in and out. I do find this sort of photoshoot a bit samey but it is useful for me as I end up with photos that my club members don't have and we have a portrait comp most years. |

Not sure what your first sentence means-did a word get missed out? Yes I liked the pose and you are right - it does need some differentiation in her hair from the background. |
