A good shot Ian , under difficult conditions. Should you remove the overhead lights which appear between and above the singers? I don't mind the highlight on the drum because it does help to take the eye to the drummer who is the third point of the triangle of the group. |

Sorry that referred to my comment about artists getting things wrong. |

Yes, but when the birds are meant to portray the ones we see often at the shoreline, then someone should have been more careful. Showing them as seeming to fly would have been easy. |

I agree-the trail could easily be removed but not if you want to use in PJ competitions. |

Well, posed shots are always a bit awkward looking, but I'm hopeful that this might get some acceptances. I did think of using liquefy to change his pleasant looking face either into a broad grin-he's saved her- or a downturn -because she's hurt! I haven't tried it yet. I haven't changed the lighting at all- that's just 2 lights, one each side. |

My crop would probably have been through her shoulder and back so it was all black on the frame edge, so the elbow would not have been visible. |

It is frustrating when the artists get the details wrong because they haven't researched it properly. We have a flight of birds as a statue in Hoylake and when you look at them, it would be impossible for them to actually fly, the way they have been portrayed. You'd think someone would check before committing to metal! We have seen this before slightly differently, but it is a good representation of the statue and I like your crop. |

I think this is great too. I'm not into old cars but whenever I see them I start taking bits and pieces just like this. Converting to a stark mono is perfect. I'm sure it isn't really lopsided but the bit on the top seems to be at a different angle to the word below. No idea why it looks like that. |

Accepted apology -imagination in play! I was about to tell you off for your cropping. Its a really good conversion with crisp blacks and whites and the viewpoint is superb. I might have taken a sliver off the right hand side to get nearer her back since the action is all to the left. Lovely image Steve! |

I agree with what has been said re the window and ramp and I also think the contrasty blacks and whites are great. However, the blank sky is going to take its score down in a competition unless you eschew Pt and go for the mono section. Is there a white band down the left side of the tower where you can see the sea? It looks odd to me as if the processing has done something strange there. |

This year's weather has been so weird that maybe that has been the cause of the failure. The other possibility is a virus -they get everywhere- which has blighted it. I actually like the single petal struggling to open at the top, but again I would crop just a small amount off the tp and put a stroke round the image to define its edges. You've got good detail on the petals and it looks pretty well sharp from front to back. |

The crumpled backdrop will never look right for this model, but it can be OK for the glamorous female models. I often try for different 'venues' for model photos or eliminate them as much as possible by darkening or cropping. It makes the final picture much more interesting. |

How about this? I played around with selecting the figures and added a background plus a colour and then changed it to mono again. I had to do quite a lot of altering the levels and the brightness on the dress and on his face. |

I hadn't seen those before. Yes, very similar pose without him or me knowing. I have several like those just with the fireman but gain they would be better with different backdrops. |

Yes I agree. Probably good if I could extract him and put him against a more appropriate backdrop so it would be better for PID anyway. Otherwise I've got to darken the backdrop so it barely shows. |
