Yes! Red eyes would create a really sinister image. |

I liked the log on the right as well -it broke up the reflection. |

They look OK on mine but are easily darkened just in case. The problem of dark tones meant the woman's arm began to merge with the door. Dark clothes against dark wood is never easy! |

Isn't it interesting that I never noticed the PLEASE sign because I was so focused on the people. I think you are right and it should go. Thanks |

Again I agree with what's been said. You should be able to retrieve the highlights on their backs and I would have preferred to see the child's face a bit more. The older person is looking at her hand but the child is carrying a horn and I liked the colour there because I could work out what it was but it isn't so clear in the mono. Like Candie, I swapped back and forth and in the end decided I preferred the colour. There's a warm glow from the clothing set off by the cool blue of the tent behind. |

I like this as well -both colour and mono but I think the mono is better. The double image from Steve is also interesting - I like the symmetry. I'm intrigued to know what book Wes has sent - to do with the history or the photo? The idea of a building filled with powder kegs is quite worrying though I accept no lights or fires were anywhere near to set them off. The detail in the whole photo is great, but I would darken the left hand side down where the side of the kegs is much lighter and that bit is right on the edge of the photo. The perspective pulls the eye along the corridor. |

I tried some alternatives as he looks a little scary but could be made to look much scarier. How about Nik Film Noir1?
Is he still a friend after you've uploaded his picture here? |

I agree with Stephen's crop -going tight in for a square emphasises the subject. The bull looks very cross at being made to run into the water. As you say, multitake works well with something like this. The bird is perfect! Could you lighten the guy's face a little. I know he is looking at the animal but he is turned away from the camera as well. |

I can see the problem of not quite centreing the waterfall but also the problem of the horizon. If you like the reflection, then you have to leave the horizon there. There are bits of foliage in the top corners to infill them and this has produced a slight vignette on the bottom corners as well. It is a very pleasant shot but probably not one for the Salons. It doesn't have the dramatic lighting needed. |

I agree that a white line would help determine the edge of the photo and that would tell you where to crop, though you'd have to redo the stroke line. I'm happy with the blurring. As you say, this doesn't look like a secure nest at all. It also looks a bit knobbly for the female to sit on. Could you have taken a shot while the nest was in situ to give a better storyline as there isn't anything to tell us where this nest originated? |

As I said we have never watched the programme ourselves, but I believe the priest is a very dodgy character. |
