As everyone has said, a lovely tranquil scene with perfect blue sky and puffy white clouds -definitely worth taking. |

Just been to a steam punk day at Shrewsbury on Saturday -great Halloween possibilities for sale. I bought a skull with a skeleton hand so expect to see it later.
I agree the boke needs sorting and I wondered whether the whole hand etc could be made more diagonal so it was more pictorial -bottom left to top right angle?
Very good capture of an odd mirror. |

Ok, thanks for that. We have stone bridges which date back a long way so perhaps we realised the problem of wood rotting and decided that stone or brick was a better bet, especially in our soggy climate! |

I process my images for competitions too, so a small edging is fine for the digital when they are black against black. It is also a good idea to create a fine line when processing for prints -sometimes right at the edge of the print and sometimes as a line within the print -depends on the photo of course. It seems to give a finish to the print. I'm not always good at getting it precisely right when printing, because then the mounting has to be precise and my mounting is a bit slapdash! |

Now that's an interesting suggestion -re the creative constructs and I might just have a go when I have time and feel in the mood. I agree that the framing is too tight and increasing the black surrounds would be relatively easy. |

Yes I feel that is better. It has removed the extra window on the right which pulled the eye sideways. I know you often visit Bodie so trying a different angle next time is a possibility for you. We enjoyed our only visit there though we could have spent longer wandering around because there was so much to take. Very interesting, though every British visitor seems to come up with much the same shots. I'd like to spend time concentrating on a few parts and taking lots of different aspects.
Authenticity is difficult, especially when money is involved. |

No, we have nothing like that -probably because we don't get enough snow to make it worthwhile. In parts of the GB which do get snow, there aren't many people so it also would not have been worth the expense. That's one reason why I took so many pictures when we visited the NE because they were unusual as far as I was concerned. |

Thanks. I always like items like this and I take photos even though they may then languish in the files without being used! |

I've never been part of any Military, but I still appreciate the lines of gravestones and the way you've taken them. It is appalling how many people die to protect the rest of us. The curves of the stones followed by the curving line of flags works well and the architect who designed the rising land level did well. An excellent shot. |

We took lots of pictures of covered bridges when we were in the area, because we don't have them in GB at all. It's surprising that so many have survived the years. I really like the mono version. When I did mine, I always did an HDR in order to get all the detail at both ends and that worked well. You seem to have captured the detail without HDR. Good shot! |

I really like these! Very graphic and a good crop! The textures are super. It's such a simple idea to extract a small part and make it important. Congratulations! |

i don't know what a ball magnet is so I found this image very difficult to understand. I puzzled about the reflection pattern you mentioned until I found the tiny area in the centre part. I do find the large piece of paper to the right is a distraction from the circular structure, especially as it has a dead sort of texture to it. The surface of the metal cylinder is much more interesting with the focal point being the star light in the centre. The base just sits at the bottom of the photo edge but it doesn't appear to have anything solid to rest on. |

I agree that Tom's changes to the roof do help. I hadn't realised that the roofs were too modern. WE've been to Bodie but I don't think I took a photo of this building. My problem with it is that there is a division of interest, between the main building on the left and the one on the right. It's as if you didn't quite know which part to concentrate on. Could you crop off the whole of the right side just by the fence post so we are forced to look at the left house? It might look a bit odd because you don't have the left end of that house. However, I do like the increasing importance of the steps up to the door which provide a good lead-in. What do you think? |

I wondered whether all the stems need slightly more visibility-the bottom one and a couple at the top show up on my monitor but the others are barely to be seen.
I agree that it is good to have the descending flowers with a diagonal effect.
I agree as well that it needs a white 2 pixel edge to define the frame size. |

However I didn't have anything to do with the arrangement. That was done by the people who collected them and then found a good piece of wood to put them on. I just recorded their skill in arranging. |
