I found this an intriguing picture. I am not usually a fan of ICM, but I think this has worked, even without the added filter. The end result is more ethereal than the original. I do like the added reflection and maybe the extra glass effect does make it look as if the rain is still coming down. I like the colour palette and the red area is well placed. Something to hang on the wall. |

Yes, I agree that it does change the image significantly. In the end, it is down to what you the photographer prefer -it's your picture! |

The ripples on the dunes are lovely, but I'm not sure about the edge of the dune in the top left corner. Your second image is colour and the slight green of the plant helps with this one. |

OK, I think the image without your wife would be better as I find the two elements compete with each other and the fact that the tripod legs disappear at their base is a little odd. So I did what you said and r4emoved your wife-sorry! I think it looks emptier and this is what you were after. I like the high key effect and the thick black line is probably fine for the print but a bit heavy for the digi version. We've visited the national park as well and got shadows on the dunes which worked and I also made them mono. |

I agree that you were right to go for monochrome despite the lovely red tones. Good job on the removal of the nasty bit of loose roof. However, what do you think about also removing the fence line which has caught the light and leads out of the frame? I have used the patch tool in 3 sections to do this but I am not very expert in removing large areas like this. Cloning and content aware did not look even as natural as this effort. |

I find your mono a bit too all over grey and white so i went back to your original, removed the dust spots, used shadow highlight to bring out detail in the shadows, and then converted simply using Ps and using the colour sliders so the green and blue went all the way to the left and the yellow and red went partway to the right. This gave a darker sky but left the building showing more contrast. I darkened the bottom two corners as they had gone too bright, but I liked the apparent increase in overall contrast. |

I agree that a 2px outline should be added to define the edge of the picture. I also think you should crop slightly so that there is less space behind her and above. I tried darkening the gap between her bun and her shoulder as well as the corners so she appears more gently from the background. I do like the pose-she looks as if she knows who she is and what she wants. I like the lighting effect as well. |

Like you, I would certainly have taken this shot. I like the simplicity and it is definitely pictorial, with the stem at a nice gentle angle and the leaves pointing down into the frame. There is just enough detail in the ruffled snow, but as you say, there are many of these shots around and probably this doesn't have enough to make it stand out. I'd print it and keep it for the wall. Or maybe, print on a textured paper and try it in a print competition. i think the crop is the only possible one-square doesn't work and neither does vertical for me. |

What a gorgeous coloured horn! The conversion is fine , but I find the top right corner of sky is so bright in both mono and colour, that my attention is drawn away from the horn. if you could have moved around a little so that your friend was against the foliage, it would have been better. I wondered if you could slightly darken his arm and hand so the horn becomes the lightest area. |

Thanks. It was the infra red effect which made the skin tones very pale and normally I wouldn't convert using that. However it did seem to help the face stand out well, but I shall try reducing the brightness on the cheeks as well as the white stripe of the shirt. It is quite surprising that the effects don't really detract from the face, so I am still quite pleased with the overall effect. |

I'm pleased you thought of fairies when you saw it. I agree with both you and Stephen and will increase the contrast a little -not often you have to tell me to do that. Let's see if judges like it now! |

That's interesting because I was worried about the black jumper but adding contrast didn't make it worse but showed up the speckles across her face more. I like the effect even more! Thanks
