That is interesting as personally I think I like the colour one better as it has got such vibrant colours. Just goes to show we are all different in our likes and dislikes. |

No, this has lost the surrounds which helped to make this interesting, because they were less stark and the circle encapsulated the spiral. I much prefer your original version. |

Now I'#m not sure as with this one you included the light holder fitting which you'd have to in part. So maybe the better one is the vertical. Just goes to show you have to experiment! |

Glad you liked it! Is the colour or the mono better? |

I like Stephen's first crop because it makes it more dramatic and I liked the increased blackness of Russ' but I would then have cropped some of the sky off -so again a combination of both ideas. The story is interesting. Why don't they remove old things like this when they have finished with them? It would restore the environment to what it was. |

I think Stephen's crop is good. It makes the viewer focus in on the shapes of the branches. Russ' alteration makes it a completely different look so maybe try combining the two ideas? We haven't had any snow yet, just one hard frost yesterday but I don't want any, as our central heating broke last week and can't be mended till next Monday. Typing in woolly gloves is not easy! |

I think you've done the best you could within the limitations. I end up with pictures like this and don't know whether they are worth working on or whether I should accept they are beyond my abilities to deal with them. I usually give up! So well done. I wondered if you could go further and reduce it to even simpler lines but having tried various ideas I found done of them worked well! |

It is much better as a mono as it has separated the filament from the background and yet left some details to add interest. You chose to tilt the image so the filament is almost vertical and I wondered why. Is a diagonal slant more pictorial than a vertical? |
