Thanks Lynne-I think you are the only one who even vaguely likes this treatment! |

OK, then the answer is start again. If you have a willing partner then you could get them to throw the frisbee while you take the shots. I had a similar problem with a neighbour's kitten while we were still able to visit. he was so excited to see me as I was feeding him while they were away that he kept rushing round, playing with everything and so interested in the camera. My best photo was his paws peeping out from under a curtain-the only time he stopped! |

I agree that it looks as if the cables are going up not down. I also like the way they are disappearing into the clouds and they are better in Russ' version. Why did you decide to put the pylon in the centre? Would a crop off the left and bottom make more of it and more dominant and therefore more pictorial? Your eyes then have to follow the cables downwards. Keeping the point of disappearance softer than the rest of the sky might help to emphasise that they are going down not up. |

Here I am going to be different. I like the colour version with just that hint of red on the bird. It seems to make the whole just that little bit colder looking. We've never had this sort of ice storm so seeing the pictures is wonderful and also wonderfully glad I wasn't living there! The tree is fantastic so I hope you've got a million other pictures as well.
Rules for portraits are there to be broken! Sometimes it works LtoR and sometimes it's better RtoL. Go for what pleases you and hope others agree. |

I think I would have placed the rope so that it was at more of an angle to the 'stripes' of the backing, which is just off straight. I actually prefer the colour version and I would have gone in with a tighter crop still. Now were you producing a photo of this know for identification and to enable someone else to see how to create it, or were you after a pictorial shot? If the former, then it's fine. If the latter then you need to alter the angles, and lighting! |

I also find the fence horrid in the background. It has caught the light and detracts from APOLLO. i don't know how big the original image is, but could you simply crop much of the shot, removing most of the frisbee and the background, making it a head shot instead. I can't do it on the small copy successfully because of the resolution but you should be able to if you took in RAW and make it a smart object. |

I think this is lovely both as a colour and a mono version. I tried various crops and decided that leaving the shoreline centrally placed was actually the best -why not break the rules sometimes? I love the delicacay you achieved in the original conversion so be happy with it. Something to go on the wall even if judges don't like it. |

I think this has lost the beautiful light which Jennifer started with, though the colour dehazed one is fine. |

The mono is better than the colour as it stands because you've gone very black all round the car. There are always problems at these events because of people, lights etc so you've done well -removing the leg etc. I prefer it with the bumper because otherwise the right corner is very heavy as Asbjorn says. The other problem is that the car appears to be floating in midair. Maybe I would have gone in closer and taken just the reflection of the green car, but then it would have had to stay as colour. |

Actually I like the half couple in the shot because otherwise the picture looks unbalanced. if I take out the right hand couple then I have to take out the two on the left as well. |

Yes this is fine but I was after a different look -not just a standard crisp photo shot! Clearly I failed to get this across. |

Ok, I think I'm getting the message loud and clear that everyone hates it! I actually still quite like it because it reminds me of going to Amsterdam at Christmas and at how cold it was. This year, we will be at home naturally and not going skating or even taking photos of other people skating. |
