Again i think it might please American audiences, but probably be not suitable for GB. |

It was purely to catch the lions so was only for about an hour, before the general public was allowed into the park area. It meant our drivers could go off road and closer to the lions and they were constantly watching them. I have got some full face ones but I haven't had time to process them yet as we've had a visitor who we then took to Cumbria to another mutual friend so no time to do anything. |

I am wondering whether the shot could have been taken from a different angle so the boat wasn't quite so much flat across the picture. As it is, the boat doesn't stand out enough from the pilings behind. I actually prefer the colour version because of the colour of the water which allows the boat and the groynes to stand out more. Rye is a lovely little harbour and I suggest going back again and again until you are happy with a more interesting shot. |

I thought the tandem was a dodgy idea- too easy for one person to fake it! |

I agree!Little girls want to please and little boys are skeptical! I like the little boy -typical expression. OK, that's probably not politically correct but it's true. |

I thought the body created a base to the image. I suspect that in US comps, it might do better without the body and in GB comps, it would be better with it. One has to adjust for different salons. |

I agree with Lynne-the wires are a pain. If you aren't using this for PJ, then you could quite easily clone them out. taking away the colour does focus the eye on the horse and rider especially as she is in the sunlit bit. I might darken the base where the sun has lit the grass as it is quite bright. I think you've caught the horse at the right point where it is still airborne and just going up so the angle looks right . Well done! |

I like the happy expressions. We cycle but know we could never cope with a tandem. They require much better co-ordination and we don't do well together in such circumstances. However, for a tourist activity it might be fun. Are they on the raised wall area? Chinese people always have to do the victory salute in photos! A lovely memento of the holiday. |

I think the mono version is much better. The colour one is just ordinary though pleasant -a record of a day out by the water. I might try increasing the contrast a bit on the foreground water so the lighter areas show up and bring the eye forward in the frame away from the darker trees at the back. I like the effect on the clouds which have become more obvious in the mono. |

I think the expressions are super! OK so it is a posed/ set up shot judging by the looks but it is 'cute' as well as being interesting. I started off sitting at a desk like that in the Fifties. I like the mono version but I think the colour would do as well in competitions. Maybe for the British market, the colours are a bit oversaturated. We tend to go for the more subtle side. I think you did extremely well to get the exposure so well held and I agree that flash would have killed it. I think the image is fine as far as sharpness is concerned -these are children after all. |

Hi,
I am reliably informed that the lion in question is called Ted, so I am assuming that it is a young male lion.
I will tidy up the light patches in the background s suggested.
The info re the taking:I use an Olympus EM Mark 11 camera and the lens was the Leica D9 100-400 F4, but set at the 180mm focal length. It was taken at 1/320 sec at F4.8 with the lens attached to a mono pod. ISO was 500 as it was dark under the trees where the lion was lying on a manmade platform which I cropped off at the taking stage.
The Leica lens is superb for sharpness but I do need support because of hand tremor. |
