I would have liked her to look directly at me for this one but there were umpteen photographers trying to attract her attention and I was at the back, peering over their shoulders and one at least was very pushy and intent on getting HIS shots to the detriment of everyone else. When his head wasn't in the way, his elbow was! |

I much prefer the mono to the colour. However I'm not happy with the trees, especially the one 'growing' out of the back of the wagon. The only way to get round this was at the taking stage. Like you, I found the clouds etc very good, although they are much brighter than the wagon so do pull the eye away from it. I like the detail you've brought out in the wagon. |

I prefer the clouds in the sky as they help to reduce the starkness. I probably would have taken this shot as well but then decided it was too complex. The stairs are great but the other support lines going across detract from their shape. I don't like the slanting pillar on the left as it is neither one thing nor the other. A corrected vertical line would tip the stairs as would making the distortion greater, so I don't know. Basically this doesn't work for me! Sorry. |

I'm not sure about this purely because the background is so black that the two outliers almost appear to be floating. It is an interesting exercise in photo stacking. I tried that last night and obviously got the settings wrong as it took 80 instead of 8!! I will have to go back to the manual. Interesting that quinoa has such variety. |

I like this one a lot. The tail feathers look fine on my monitor and the whole bird looks agreeably sharp and not overdone. I don't know how it would project. If you were thinking of it as a nature shot, then some judges are going to complain about the fence post. Also in GB we tend not to like birds so large in the frame, but it would be OK in the US comps. |

I've read all the comments because I'm late to do mine. I agree that it is interesting to have the silhouette. I think-as a judge- that this would work whether you knew the context or not. I like the window light above the hole and not knowing what was happening doesn't matter. I like the figure walking out of the picture as well. We have an annual London salon competition which supposedly is looking for pictures which aren't club level but are something different and make the viewer think and wonder. This has the same sort of effect. |

You are right. I didn't really have any choice re her poses because she was the most popular model because of the scanty clothing and she was the most inventive. She used a pole to create even more changes. I was amazed at her athleticism. The lighting was set for the area so as long as she stayed within the circle, then it was reasonable. One problem was that she had such long legs that they frequently extended beyond the backdrop. I'll do some of the other poses gradually but I'm so busy right now they might take a while. I haven't sent any of the shots to Scarlett yet either. |
