Thanks Jose. I'll remember to enter in a S American competition! |

Good idea as that darkens the light corners especially at the bottom. Thanks. |

Yes they both stand out much better so the bull is more dominant and you can see the rider better. |

Have you tried removing the grain with Define or similar ? It's fine at this scale but if projected I think it would detract from the image. |

As a record of the old camera, it is beautifully done. Nicely isolated from the background, with detail in the dark bits. Good border use.
Not for exhibition! |

I think the close crop helps because it gets rid of the annoying, distracting posters etc behind the action. I might let the bull's back and head go darker so the whole head stands out more as there are so many elements in the picture all vying for attention. I can see that you have altered the contrast a lot already, but somehow they've got to be made to bring the eye to the rider and the muzzle of the bull.
I've just read Stephen's comment and I think we are saying the same thing in different ways!
It's a good action shot.
Can you darken the NCK on the background? |

Yes, the expression is what makes this picture. I think I would like the hair on the right hand one separated a bit more from the background if that is possible. Also once I'd noticed it, the horizontal bar behind her became eye-catching. The whole image is quite grainy-is this because it was dark and you were using a high ISO? Or is it due to post-processing? |

Yes, I agree with Stephen, that the bird needs to be much lighter overall. I think the burnt out bright part also should be toned down -I presume you took it in RAW, so the data will be there for retrieval. I noticed you have cut off the tail feathers. Was that deliberate or were you too close to it? Irritable swans don't sound too safe! They are very big birds. In GB, we prefer a bit more space round an animal or else a tighter crop on just the head, so in my opinion, this would miss out if entered in competitions here. I've gone the other way to you -using a tripod or a monopod much more often than I used to. |

I have a photo of this bridge too, but this one is much better than mine! I like it with the angled support arching up and above the far buildings. I don't think it matters that the cables don't show up very much, as it makes the bridge appear even more interesting, as if it is there without needing them. The treatment is good -using my favourite Nik filter. What i don't know is whether this style of picture does well in competitions. Like mine, are architectural shots winners or not? |

Yes, it is the same place as the photo I put in of the stairs with a woman walking up them. There were so many possibilities for photos there. Well worth a visit, although obviously a lot of German photographers have pictures of it. |
