I thought Tower Bridge was suitably iconic that it would be known worldwide! Perhaps I'm being too provincial. As I said it's actually Tower not London bridge and I never thought about the fact that non Brits would not know our nursery rhymes since we've known them since childhood. How stupid of me! |

i think you are both right that it does look as if something has hit the bridge and broken it and therefore should ben visible falling downwards. i shall have to think about putting something in the broken bit. |

She is definitely very sharp and the image looks very clean overall. I agree the wall needs darkening. My problem with this is that the horse almost looks as if he is standing on his hind feet so it looks a bit static. I think I prefer it when the horse has just left the ground so there is more dynamism to the shot. It's difficult to get right and I have often ended up with the horse hanging horizontally across the bar which looks very odd. It has to be either on the way up or on the way down, not exactly halfway! The cropping has placed the rider in the middle of the frame and I wondered whether it was possible to give her slightly more room in front. Glad you did well in the competition though. |

I agree that this is the best shot but if I hadn't seen this one, then I would have been very happy with No 2 , although No 1 is not as good as there is a player behind though the front man is very clear. Clearly taking continuous shots is the way to get the best -I bet you went home with a full card. It's beautifully sharp and well lit. I know Nikons are good at high ISOs without showing grain but this is superb. Did you have to remove grain in some way? Great PJ shot and this should do well in competitions. |

I think it needs even more contrast to suggest the sky is more night time and lighten the water streams at the bottom. I agree that a white line round the outside helps to define the edge better. If you are going to call it moonlight fishing, then why not import a moon to emphasise the point? Wasn't the original a good enough shot to keep it as a daylight image? I take your point about changing things but I think it might have been a good travel shot anyway. |

I agree that this doesn't really work. I think that although the various elements are nice when looked at separately, they are not exciting when put together. The silhouette is a rather blocky shape which isn't elegant -his arms almost look amputated! I guess he's taking a photo but it does look weird. The reflections are good below the boardwalk but maybe they were a vibrant colour which was what attracted you in the first place. I suspect that you actually needed a number of silhouettes with more of the landscape behind them. I have used a figure at this location with swirling steam and it did well for me in PT comps, but it had a curve in the boardwalk and more of the Spring showing. |

I much prefer the mono as the green woodwork and the dominant red jacket draw the eye too much. Without the colour, the tones of the face become much more important. Portraiture is all about the eyes and the mono really lets us see them. The boy has a rather quizzical expression whereas Granddad appears much more relaxed. It looks as if they both are OK with having their photo taken and seem very happy with each other. I would darken down the bottom of the right hand corner where the wood is a bit lighter and also the boy's light arm. Lovely portrait. |

I know that feeling! When i am in a creative mood, and have got to the point of saving, it gets saved as something with a very long title which includes all the various things I've done using single words or abbreviations to remind me. However, I used not to do that so old ones like this rely on memory. |

It's actually a wrong title anyway as this is Tower Bridge but when you're desperate for a slide to make a nursery rhyme and London Bridge doesn't look spectacular, then you work with what you've got! Thanks for the suggestions. People can walk across the top span which has a glass floor nowadays. |
