I like the serenity of the scene and the composition and how the branch of the tree frames the subject matter and the water. I find the white in the water a bit bright and a tad washed out leading to some loss of detail. Am I the only one to see that, in which case must have my eyes checked or my monitor calibrated. I tried adjusting that and attach herewith a slightly touched up image. You did great converting the colour image in monochrome. I am unable to attach the image here for some reason. The Choose File option does not work. |

Hi Barbara. At first glimpse I thought this was some kind of embroidery or painting that you had photographed !!. Turning the image into a creative image was a good idea. I did not know that auto exposure and auto white balance could achieve this. I am sure it did well in the creative section as it would find difficulty in the nature section given the shapes and colours. I like how the branch is diagonal from left to top right and the bird perched in the centre of the tree. A good learning lesson for me as to how to convert a nature image into a creative one. Thank you. |

How refreshing. The brightness of the flower brought out so well against the snow. I like the curve in the kerb too. Would I change anything? Perhaps gone down a bit to avoid the top down look and get more coverage of the flower and keeping the flower in the rule of thirds. But these are all individual preferences and the suggestions by other members also add to the image. Great job. |

Chin up Tulip...love the title. I wish I could handle still life like you do Judith. Have never tried it but I know it takes a special skill set. Both you and TomM seen to possess those skills. The image is wonderful. Love the play of light, how it highlights the tulip and the understated ting tings with just the light touch of light and nothing to distract. Did you use artificial lighting, diffusers..?? How did you get the light exactly to be so? Great job Judith. |

Wow, a lovely image. The white in the lighthouse is controlled, the dramatic sky well enhanced for contrast and the orange light nicely contrasts against the dark sky. The cabin gives a sense of perspective as to how tall the lighthouse is. If I had a wish list I would have one person sitting near the stairs of the cabin, preferably with a red coat on....!!! Excellent work Rich. |

Tom, I like the image just the way it is. I like how you have captured the wispiness in the smoke, the smouldering candle and the other props. It almost made me want to use them and write a postcard...!!! No one prop or part of the image overpowers anything. Everything just blends nicely to present a lovely image. Well done. I hope spring is now around the corner and you get an opportunity to go out and shoot some more images. |
