Nice image Barbara. I am a nature buff. I would crop a bit on the left so that the main branch forms a nice V and removes the green distracting leaves. I would then crop/scale the image to bring the birds closer to the viewer and getting just enough of the branches to give it a good foreground. And maybe burn the thick trunk a bit to give good contrast against the brightly lit birds? I tried to do that. Not sure if I am successful. Appreciate your comments. |

Nicely spotted Rich. In my opinion, the log and the reflection actually gives a focal point in an otherwise uniform pattern. So I am at variance with what Barbara and Gaetan have suggested.!!! I like the reflection of the log leading to the rocks and progressing further to the right. I was wondering if conversion to a monochrome would improve it? I have tried doing that. Appreciate your thoughts. |

Hello Tom. I like the natural flow of water from the top to the bottom and culminating where the boy is. I would only crop only a little bit from the left so that the trees frame the waterfall nicely on both sides. Cropping from the top would make it too tight. Maybe by increasing the texture and increasing the light on shaded part of the rocks could yield some interesting rock formation in the shadows? |

Excellent image Gaetan. Barbara and Tom have stated what I wanted to. Mauritius is a really interesting place. For me the strangest feeling was hearing people of Indian origins speaking fluent French and Creole...!!! Indians were brought to Mauritius as slave labour by the British for sugarcane harvesting. |

Hello Tony, I dabble in micro a bit and know how challenging it is, especially with moving insects. I am a bit confused here. The image on the right is very clear with little or no noise but the posted image is noisy. Your intention was to present the entire flower and in you expanded the image resulting in noise or are they two different images altogether? The whites dominate and the colour in the flower could have been enhanced a bit by increasing the saturation? Unfortunately the noise is too much to enjoy the image fully. Whilst Topaz is one way, it is best to get the ISO right when one is shooting? I am not sure what ISO setting you used and if it was high I am assuming you were shooting in very low light? I apologise for these queries but am trying to understand the ambience in which you shot this image. Thank you. |

Thank you Tom. Yes, I was lucky. Sometimes we can take all the care in the world and be prepared but if the subject does not co-operate there is not much one can do. I am grateful I was at the scene to take this image. |

Dear Gaetan. Thank you for your comments. Yes, indeed I would have liked the full image but distraction in the background(other people watching the show as I was...!!)prevented me from doing it and hence had to crop the top bit out. Now that you point it out, the image is a bit bright and I like that you have toned it down. Thank you, I must now learn to really look at an image very critically and perhaps more than once after giving it a break and revisiting it. That is what I like about this group and the interaction. I hope to learn much. Thank you. |
