nice one Judy. The shadows lines work well. the red shirt is pretty bright but it seems to work. I'm not a fan of the porch not being level, removing the roof is a start. I might go so far as to remove all of the porch from the first pillar left of the walkway. |

I like the image and the story about it. Having not used the Silver Efex Pro I can't address the finer points of the program. I can say that when I'm doing a B&W there is never a one size fits all setting. I normally will have multiple layers, much like Bill's control points, I will paint the adjustments in where needed. For instance if the sky needed to be darker moving the blue luminosity slider darker will darken all of the blues, but this might cause unwanted affects the areas. So I would do a layer dedicated to just the sky, or the area I need to adjust.

I like the image Bill. Not too much you can do for the shadow without making it look odd besides hope for better angles next time. |

I like the dreamy feel of the image but I prefer the original horse with your back ground. |

Thanks for the input Bill. This was one of those images taken with the all the wrong settings, but I liked the image.
A bit of the back story, I was heading back to my truck after photographing wading birds in the reeds. When this flock of Ibis came in to land, so you might say I was shooting from the hip :-). The sun was high and bright, so the tops of the birds and the sky are so totally blown out there was no detail left. I looked at doing the edit in B&W but felt like B&W was the expected edit and I was hoping for something fresh. The color adjustment was done using LAB color adjustments in Affinity Photo. I do agree with losing the lower birds. |

There is one bird in the bunch that is not a White Ibis LOL. The first bird on the left center is a White Heron.

Nice photo Walter. Focus is sharp and the lighting is good too. I like having both jumper in the frame and the smoke trail is just a plus. But with two subjects I find myself bouncing from one subject to the other. |
