Thanks Kerry for the feedback. There are a few more details now in the version (posted in reply to Walter) including the hippo now closer to the boat. |

Thanks Pauline. Since the majority want the hippo closer, I placed it closer and resized it for proper perspective (above). Ironically, I never hesitate healing objects out of a photo but rarely think of moving objects around, including this time. But the hippo in closer proximity allows for a tighter crop. The above is quick and dirty, just to see the effect. |

... and of course, moved that hippo a little closer... |

Thanks Walter. I re-edited it to leave a bit more color and this version shows the headlamp a bit better. Also less sharpening (the high-key version now seems oversharpened). |

Thanks Nicole. I had a few other shots of the boatman, (see below) but none as story-worthy as when the hippo arrived. The light was problematic for all of the shots, which I tried to solve in this shot with high-key. Agree, the branches add a lot to the shot. |

Thanks for the feedback Janice. I too, wish the hippo had been closer to the boatman, but I'm sure the boatman would not have been as enthusiastic. The hippo appeared just as we were finishing our sundowner, and our guide was urging us back aboard, so little time to frame it, but yes, that branch position is not great. |

Kerry, I like the big sky, it helps balance the sandy tone of cattle and road. I'd be tempted to remove the telephone poles, add some contrast (without darkening like in the original) and maybe saturate red more? I like how the lead cattle are focused on you. |

Very nice capture. If focusing on the lower half of the image, as others have suggested and which I agree with, you might want to take those powerlines out. |

Nice silhouettes. I agree with above mentions of straightening the image, unfortunately the top of the concrete appears our of alignment with the two square foundations running inside. If you've got the pixels, maybe try a tighter crop, inside the tunnel only. |

I hadn't seen a cicada yet, so thanks for the opportunity. I agree that the eye should be the focus point, especially since you have a nice gleam of light on this one. If the scientists predictions are true about the 17 year cycle, then you should have millions more opportunities... |

This is a very peaceful setting, and highlighting the old bridge allows many stories to flow. For me it's the craftsmanship of the stone masons which has endured the water (and cars) for over 100 years. |
