Another interesting variant, but you lose the linear "timeline" of the other. |

Except for the face blur issue, the blurring worked in your advantage by increasing the glow effect. I would say reversing the image flow would work also, as your granddaughter goes from first stage to mature butterfly. |

I am not bothered by the highlights in the background, as I do not see them as a strong distraction, or does the cropping. But he foreground rock is definitely a distraction and darkening it may look unnatural. If that is the case, Mervyn's suggestion to crop it out may be the most effective. |

Yes, a great nature story image. And I agree with Mervyn that a subtle linear darkening gradient would keep us from going off the bottom. |

This is a very compelling image, and the B&W treatment is great. The only minor suggestion would be to apply a slight darkening linear gradient on each side to push the focus in a little more. |

The color picker tool in LR is hidden the Color Mixer develop module. Once you use the dropper, you can pick the hue, saturation, and luminosity by sliders, or move the point around in a color grid. You can also expand or limit the color range impacted, and there is a nice Visualizer Range checkbox to see what is actually affected. And the bonus is the ability to separately modify additional colors. |
