I think the mood fits Iceland very well. This composition is nice, although you could crop some off the left and a smaller amount off the bottom and still have a composition that works too, as it might put more focus on the church. My suggestion might be to select the church and foreground and apply just a slight brightening using something like curves to give some additional contrast. This leaves the threatening sky intact. I would suggest looking at cloning out the piece of snow in the left side of the reflection (or toning it down),as I feel it draws my eye. I have no issue with the snow/ice in the bottom right, as it is not bright. |

I like this complex abstract you created. My suggestion would be to lighten the butterfly and add a little contrast to it, so it does not so completely blend in with the lace. You certainly can see what it is, but I think drawing just a little more focus to it helps. |

I agree that the vertical composition is more powerful. As for the sky, I would see if you can bring back the lost highlights in the clouds, or pick a different sky. In the original, the left side of the building seems a little darker, and I wonder if you toned it down for the black and white, it would act as a better framing device. I noticed the original is cropped just to the bench, but in the vertical there is extra room at the bottom? I personally prefer it cropped just to the bottom of the bench in the B&W version too. |

I would recommend removing the part flower, since it serves as a distraction with it being out of focus, but not blurry enough to blend in. I would also like to see more of the main flower in focus. I noticed you used f4, and generally I start at f8 and go to f16 when shooting so close, unless I am looking for a soft focus effect. I like the background effect you got, and unless it was right on top of the flower, I would think it would still be out of focus even at f11. You had ideal light for flowers, but I think some side lighting would help show the fine texture in the feeding heart.
I included the image without the side flower for comparison, and I over sharpened to help compensate, plus dodged and burned a little to give some sculpturing to the flower. |

I really like this. The tonal range is great, and all those curving leading lines to the solitaire man work well. There is a great story here. My suggestion would be to tone down the top tier of the staircase to a darker grey (or possible remove it). Because it is above the subject, it draws the attention away. It is also the brightest of the curves. You might also consider toning the brighter areas on the right side by the railing for the same reason. |
