You certainly straightened out the color cast, and cropping in brought us to what is important. The two front petals are soft, but that does not bother me, as it does not seem to distract from the effect you desired. |

Usually I look at flipping, but sometimes after seeing it the "correct" way, I forget that option. I think flipping helps. |

Your idea of reversing the direction is what makes this intriguing, as the perspective is disorienting in a good way.

Beautiful, and great colors. Great tonal range that does not look like an HDR. There is one very tiny thing that I might do to this perfect image, and that is where the sky meets the left building and rooftops- where the sky is probably the brightest from the sun direction. I would clone out that very small area that is near white with adjoining sky color. |

I actually prefer the original more, as the processed has too much detail. The dark shadows of the original with hidden detail provide some relief for the eye, and the high detail of the processed is just too busy for me. What Belinda said about color made me think that if you either pumped up the color, or painted in some saturated color in critical areas, like the actual staircase, that perhaps this would provide an avenue for separation in the monochrome version.
You have an interesting composition, but there just needs to be more tonal separations. I might suggest cropping the bottom slightly. |

I like the 'almost monochrome with a touch of color'. I'm glad you are having fun with the phone apps. And you can see why Google originally bought NIK just so they could use the technology to make Snapseed. That is still my favorite iPhone app for editing. I would like to see the original to see how far the image evolved. |
