A nice view of the beautiful trees of Georgetown, South Carolina. As Trey mentioned, cropping from the top would really enhance this image so the viewer wouldn't be distracted by all the white sky at top. The green leaves and shapes of the branches have a nice flow in the image...a very pleasant and peaceful scene. |

Gordon, I'm really impressed that you did focus stacking handheld. I've done it with the camera on a tripod but not sure I could do 20 images handheld. I can see you now taking the image...elbows at your side, holding the camera tightly against your head, no wind, etc..all the techniques to take stacked images hand-held with bugs that can move at any time. The blurred background is nice because the viewer then focuses on the single stalk and damselfly. I especially like the delicate wings and the fine hairs on the damselfly...just enough sharpness in these areas. A really nice image Gordon. |

This event is part of the history of Bradenton Beach, Fl. and Hurricane Irma effect on this community. There is a real story here and you captured it well. This image would fit well in the journalistic category. The darken effect that you used in the image really brings the viewer's eye to the destruction suffered by many in Bradenton Beach. I look at this image and a lot of questions arise in my mind...who lived here, are they going to rebuild, will they be able to afford to rebuild..etc. A good journalistic image engages the viewer and you did that with your image Jay. Congratulations. |

This group has such diversity in the way that their images are presented and this image is no different. It's nice to divert from the norm and present us with this watercolor type of sketch imagery. The colors are really nice in this image, so soft and colorful at the same time. Nice presentation Sanford. |

You enhanced this image ever so delicately removing distracting elements and enhancing the color of the Mayapple. The softness of the background really adds a nice element to the image so that our eyes are just focused on the Mayapple and green leaves. Lot of us miss the delicate beauty that the forest presents us and instead focus on the big scene before us missing the beautiful elements that are part of the forest structure. What a beautiful and peaceful scene that you have presented us. |

There are leading lines that draw one into the image and the vertical lines of the trees frame the image thus casting long shadows from the tree trunks across the road from the afternoon sun. Darkening the sky in the. upper right would add more contrast thus enhancing the lightness of the trees. Nice image, Ian. |
