76 Mar 25 Comment The molding of light/shadows is superb in this image from the dress, couch, panels and floor. You are a master at doing this sort of thing. I had to think about the spot of light on the couch's leg as to whether it should stay or be removed. I think the spot of light gives an edge to the leg so it doesn't blend into the floor. It's a matter of choice if you want to darken the spot of light a bit or not....your choice. Beautiful model with a timeless look and a blue dress that complements the combination of light and shadows to give this image a vintage look. Well done, Gordon. Mar 17th
76 Mar 25 Comment Love this image...I'm biased because I love architecture. There are so many scenes within your original that I could spend hours photographing if I were there...Are you going back to do more of this scene? You certainly have a talent for this type of photography. There is so much to see in this image...colors, rectangles, lines, abstract white blotches in the window of the white facing, reflections, etc. Nice choice of cropping to bring the viewer's attention to the different ages of the structure before you and the details within....I would love to see more of these types of images from you. Well done, Jay. Mar 17th
76 Mar 25 Comment Sanford, nice capture of a Cuban scene. I like the trees on both sides of the image of the horse cab that frame your subjects. I agree with Trey that a little more contrast would make the shadows stand out more. This is a beautiful, serene and peaceful scene....nice capture Sanford Mar 17th
76 Mar 25 Comment Converting to back and white is a good choice for this image. Things kind of get lost in the colored image but with black and white rendering and cropping the image takes on a new life. There are circles, rectangles and vertical lines that make this a visually interesting image. I like how the viewer is visually drawn into the image both with the bar on the door and the black rug...also the repetition of the bicycle at the top of the entrance way and the bicycle in the back. There's a lot to see in this visually interesting image. I think you would be good at street photography as you seem to have a keen sense of everyday life that the casual observer might miss. Nice processing also, Trey. Mar 17th
76 Mar 25 Reply You certainly put a lot of thought in post-processing this image. The tones, colors and shadows look really nice Ian. With cropping an image like this there are several possibilities how you can enhance this image to your liking. I feel, with this image, you use the sliders to enhance this image with your skills, emotions and heart to render the scene as you remembered it....and, that is a skill greatly admired. Well done Ian. Mar 17th
76 Mar 25 Reply When I first started taking photos of these birds I photographed in color. The trees were kind of visually busy with all the needles on the branches so then I switched to infrared. With this type of background I found that infrared was a better choice isolating the bird better whether against the tree or sky (as the sky would render, after converting to b/w, make the bird really stand out, especially since it is a white bird against a dark sky). Sometimes in photographing the egret's display, I would use hi-speed synch in order to capture the moment but not always. Thanks for your comments about the image Ian. Mar 17th
76 Mar 25 Reply In reply to your question about vignetting in the image...Yes, I applied a very light vignetting at the edges. I also applied a gradient filter to the egret to lighten a bit. Thank you for your comments Trey. Mar 17th
