76 May 23 Reply Thanks for taking the time to help me improve the mountain scene and for the pointers. I will try to do what you suggested. I have one question..."what did you mean by working on the HDR of the image?" Again, thank you. May 30th
76 May 23 Reply Took a look at your wife's image in Group 24. The image is very soft, delicate and beautifully rendered. May 12th
76 May 23 Reply Gordon, you are truly an artist with your post processing and attention to details. I really appreciate your explanation of how you processed your image for a final presentation. A beautiful image, one worthy of hanging on your wall. May 8th
76 May 23 Comment I like the group of "three" as mentioned by Gordon. This makes for a nice setting. Just for fun I decided to work on your image to see what I could do with your image. The background was lightened first, then I selected the blossoms and lightened them. I then did a radial gradient over the blossoms, inverted it and lightened a bit. I do like the diagonal of the branch that the blossoms are on. Perhaps my image might be a bit light. Well done on your image Jay. May 8th
76 May 23 Comment A great image of the sunset on the Serengeti. Lightning up the lower third of the image is good and you set a nice mood emphasizing the color of the sky. Getting rid of the noise from the original image with Photo Ai really gave clarity to your image. Nicely done, Sanford. May 8th
76 May 23 Comment The processing on the texture of the bark is a wonderful contrast to the smoothness of the green weed. The color contrast between the two are eye-appealing. I do like all three formats as they were presented in the discussion for different reasons though I would change the green weed in the 16x9 format to the right. Death and decay is all around in the natural world but out of decay does come life and you captured this beautifuly in your image. Well done Trey. May 8th
76 May 23 Comment Ian, you should work on this project of old vs. new, finish it and publish the book. Doing this type of photography is exciting and generates a lot of ideas as to how you want to capture your subject. There is also frustration in trying to capture and present a subject as you envision it so that others (viewers) feel a connection to your subject matter. Your ideas on how to capture your subject matter (buildings) will most likely change from time to time and what you begin with is not necessarily what you end up with but with time and practice, you will end up with a strong body of work that you will be proud of. I once did a body of work and it was on emotions. In one imageI wanted to convey the feeling of grief and loss of a loved one. I thought to myself, "how am I ever going to do that so that the viewer will understand what I'm trying to say?" One thing I learned from this whole process was not to put roadblocks in my thinking but to let different ideas how to portray my subject matter just flow, and yes I did get my picture. So, Ian, get started. You have a subject matter that you are passionate about and that's a great start! May 8th
76 May 23 Reply Thank you Ian for your comments. Fall color in Colorado (late Sept./early Oct.) is indeed beautiful. Another place is Utah for its sandstone mesas, arches, canyons and Oregon for its beautiful waterfalls and beaches. I've seen some beautiful pictures of Australia and would love to visit the beaches, wildlife (encountering poisonous snakes not on my wish list), national parks, cities and towns. May 8th
76 May 23 Comment Hi Gordon,

I tried what you suggested by overlaying the original scene with the brightened scene and then reducing the opacity to 90% and 85% respectively to see which opacity setting was better. What a difference reducing the opacity made. I am really pleased on how the image looks now. Thank you Gordon for the tip.
