When photographing egrets, it nice to get a different point of view. I have lots of flying egrets and many of them look the same. So, when photographing flying egrets for example, I try to look for different things such as angle of bird, lighting conditions, takeoff, landing, etc., to capture something that is unique but I must say that I have to take a lot of images with hi-speed synch to capture the "perfect moment". Observation of the birds' habits is key before photographing them. Once you learn their habits and the cycle of the breeding season, you have a better chance of getting the image you want. Thanks for your positive comments Trey. |

Thank you for your comments Jay. It always helps me to grow as a photographer/processor of images as I learn so much from the comments on what others see in the posted image. |

Thank you for your suggestions. In this image I only worked on the sky to saturate and darken just a bit but didn't change the exposure on the birds this time around. I truly appreciate the comments on my images as sometimes I think I've gotten the image as good as it can get and it always takes another pair of eyes to see what other options/improvements are open to me to improve my image. |

Per suggestion about the sky being a bit pale, I darkened the sky and saturated a bit to render the sky a bit more blue. The original processed image was supposed to be a high key without overexposing the whites though I do like the darker blue sky also in the example above. |

A few comments were made about the light sky so I darkened the exposure and saturation from the processed image. What do you think....better? |

The complimentary colors of blue and orange as well a the silhouettes of the people add to the attraction that this image contains. The reflections in the water also add to the depth of this image. I like the fact that you didn't cut off the silhouettes of the people that are in the water. Suggestion: When you go back you may try a vertical or if your lens has enough millimeters, you can take the image again ending it where the orange began underneath the top shillouette of the people. A very nice image Sophie. |

The colors in the image are subtle and soft. I especially like the strong single blue line in the sky that is also reflected in the water because the church is directly between and across from these lines. For me, I think this makes for a strong image. This is a very peaceful image that one could look at for a long time. The soft orange and blue colors on the right add just the right touch of color to the image. Well done, Gordon and I think this image would do well in Travel category of exhibitions. Good luck. |

Your processing of the colors are quite nice. The only correction I would make would be to crop in from the right to avoid that bright area on the 2nd red canoe from the right. Perhaps go back to the park and take the image again give a bit more space to the light orange canoe at the front. I really like this image with the contrasting colors of the canoes, the green grass and blue waters. Good eye for capturing this pleasing image. This might be a great picture to take in the wintertime with all the snow. |

Nice action shot of the skimmer Sanford. The reflection of the skimmer in the water is a nice touch. As far as the three birds in the foreground I like their placement in the water as it reminds me of a triangular shape. You made the processed image much stronger by cropping original image. Nicely done. |

Wow, Trey, you really gave this image a nice punch from the original. The skies are quite dramatic, the bales of hay are lightened as well as the foreground of grass and buildings. Nice texture on the buildings. Good attention to details, Trey. |

The cropping in the image is nice and the strength of the foreground rock leads us right into the image, into the waters and the beautiful sky. The touch of orange color in a few puddles on the foreground rock adds a nice touch. The contrast between the sky, water and foreground is nice. The foreground rock is not so dark, the water is lighter and the sky's color is beautifully reflected in parts of the rest of the image. Texture in rock is good also. Well done, Ian. |

After visiting this site 2-3 times a week for a few months, I began to notice different patterns emerging during the breeding season. I have many pictures of the egrets flying, though after awhile, I begin to see a pattern in myself taking different types of images that told a story. Egrets picking up branches for nesting material, egrets flying with sticks, courtship, "stick handoff to mate" to build a nest and many more images that together gave the viewer a better idea of the Great White Egret's breeding season.. Thank you for your nice comments, Ian. |
