76 Nov 22 Reply Thank you Sanford. Photographing sand dunes never tires me. There are so many ways to capture the dunes with their beautiful lines and shapes with the right lighting. Whenever I visit sand dunes, I'm always searching for the shapes and lines taking walks ahead of time so I can return to that spot when the lighting is right. Nov 21st
76 Nov 22 Reply Thank you Ian for your positive comments. Lucky to have gotten this shot as I started off on my feet to climb a very steep dune and ended up crawling on my belly to get to the top of the dune but the view beyond the top of the dune was spectacular. I was about to give up climbing the sand dune but you know, as photographers, as it's always about "the shot". Nov 21st
76 Nov 22 Reply Thank you Jay for your comments. The comments are so helpful in making me a better photographer/processor as I learn what the viewer likes or suggest improvements to make the image better. Nov 20th
76 Nov 22 Reply Your words always move me, Sophie. You have such a wonderful way with words in describing this image. Thank you so much for descriptive comments. Nov 20th
76 Nov 22 Reply I'm just beginning to learn about intersecting, luminance and depth in Lightroom Classic. Thanks for the info on how to process the darkest area. It just amazes me what is possible on processing images with the different choices available in masking. After a little more practice with intersecting I will try what you suggested. Thank you for your suggestion....much appreciated. Nov 20th
76 Nov 22 Reply Yes, my 24-105 Canon Lens is an EF lens and probably would have to get an adapter if and when I switch to digital. I've been thinking of getting a digital camera but have to do more research which digital camera to get. The EOS-R is on my list for consideration. Nov 12th
76 Nov 22 Reply Gordon, you don't know how apropos your remark was about borrowing one of Sanford's Mongolian's camels. In order to get to the point to take this image, I started climbing up a very steep sand dune, so steep I ended up on my belly clawing my way up to the top with a camera backpack and using my tripod as leverage. Yes, I could have used a camel to ride up the sand dunes and then placed him (or her) in the image so the rental price for the camel would have been a bargain in more ways than one.

Gordon, how do you like your Canon 24-105? I ordered one in April and it just came in October...have yet to try it out. It seemed like a good all around travel lens.

I will try your suggestions on the b/w image. I was a bit afraid to lighten the dark area too much, possibly making that area a bit flat, but if I just lighten it a bit and darken the light areas, it should be fine. Thanks.

76 Nov 22 Comment Sophie, I'm not sure either what the connection is with the red shoe and the woman so I don't think my suggestion will make much sense but here it is. First you might want to get rid of the feathery white slipper shoes by cloning or using some other method, then cutting and pasting the red shoe and move it over to the right where the white slipper shoes were making sure that the original red shoes were deleted after being moved. So, now you would only have the one red shoe that was move more in line with her head. Not sure this is the perfect answer but hopefully the things that were mentioned are of some help.. You can look up on YouTube how to cut and paste an item. Good luck...love your images of show people. Nov 12th
76 Nov 22 Comment Wow, this image almost has an illustrative feel to it....muted colors, soft clean lines adds to fluidity that is present in this image. Adding to this feeling are the soft muted colors in the sky and the mist that is present. Great capture, Gordon. Nov 12th
76 Nov 22 Comment Not sure if you were able to move to the left to get a different angle of the waterfall and the colorful tree, but if you were, that might be a consideration. In the image you also have a lot of very dark and very light area, and in this case sometimes compromise must be made but I would concentrate on not overexposing the highlights in post processing. Sometimes the new masking techniques in Lightroom would be useful where you can select a brush to darken or lighten a specific area. Looking at this beautiful scene, I can see what attracted you as I can visualize many different scenes from this one location in the park. Nov 12th
76 Nov 22 Comment The processing in lightening up the background and the rocks on the far side really enhance the image. Your selected shutter speed is quite effective as there is movement and softness in the water, a nice combination. Nice capture and a very pleasing image. Nov 12th
76 Nov 22 Comment The vignetting on the image's edge is very effecting in keeping our eye in the image and on the subject. The sun effectively illuminates the area in the background and thus emphasizes the silhouette of the camel and rider. Great capture. Nov 12th
76 Nov 22 Comment When I first saw this image I just smiled. Everybody loves candy but especially children. Bless your heart Ian for creating an image that children will immediately relate to and for the happiness and smiles that this image will bring to the children in the hospital. You've got my vote too! Nov 9th
