The lighting on the bird is soft and beautiful and stands out against the soft background that provides no distractions to the subject. The sharpness on the bird and tones on the background are well done. As Ian suggested, an application of a noise reduction program( such as Topaz deNoise Ai or Define in DxO software) would greatly reduce the noise and give the background a more smoother appearance. Nice capture, Sophie. |

I'm in awe of your black and white rendition of the Foxtrot tulips. Taking the time to gaze over the image, I feel with light painting it is a choice as to where and what to emphasize and where the direction of light is coming from and where the shadows lay (or is it lie?). I can see so many different interpretations on this image with light painting. The small intricacies from the single petals on the upper flowers to the shadowing on the flowers to the subdued lighting on the leaves and stems is beautiful. Your abilities to excel at this type of photography are on full display as well as the image itself. Oh, the color image is no less beautifully done...well seen. |

The lighting on the lily is very luminous and beautiful. The odd number of three lilly pads next to the flower complement the lilly and the softness of the water is a nice backdrop to the lilly and lilly pads. Have you thought about making a vertical (portrait) rendition of this image cropping in from both sides to emphasize the center of the image? I keep going back to the lighting on the lilly...nice capture, Jay. |

Often, less is more in an image. Viewing the image, the eye is directed right towards the sliver of light (eclipse) with nothing to distract the eye of the viewer. A well thought out image...very powerful in its simplicity. I don't have any questions but I often think about the complexities of the universe in outer space. The moon itself reflects the light from the sun on its surface and also affects our tides here on earth. I'm amazed by all the things known about the universe but often am curious about the unknown in the universe above/around us. |

The lighting in the image is soft and subdued while the right amount of lighting is on the flower of interest. I like the lovely pink bud peeking out from behind the flower. Side lighting is beautiful in this image. Just as a suggestion, I might have tried playing around and removing the one bright red bud so the eye could focus on the white flower with the pink bud behind it though the image is excellent as is. Well done. |

Sometimes when I take images I follow my heart and not my mind never knowing the outcome. This was the case with this image. I've learned to embrace the wind thinking how can the flow of colorful motion add to the feelings I feel and culminate in a image that reflect those thoughts. Ian, I really appreciate your descriptive thoughts on the floral image and your reasons as to why and for your encouragement on entering this image into competition. |

Thank you Sophie for your nice comments and observations on the floral image. Childhood memories are wonderful and I love the memories the image evoked from your fond memories of your grandmother. |
