John, thank you for your comments. It's fun to observe the gradual change of an object, such as a flower blooming or sunrise, etc. I have learned a lot from you and the other members. - Marisa |

Sheldon,
How nice you have a similar flower plant! I forgot to mention that when it blooms, it also produces a very strong fragrance. The fragrance disappears when the flower faded. When the plant began to bloom in the first year, we got about 21 flowers in the pot. Unfortunately, I was not able to catch the entire blooming scene in a close shot. Anyway, I tried to shoot with some light in the background, but the results were not satisfactory. I finally used flash to get the sharp look. I will try to practice more when they bloom next time. Glad to know that you have had similar experience. - Marisa |

Glenn, Joe and Peter's comments are helpful from a professional view. However, you successfully keep a memory during a tour. The colorful sun chairs with the lobster trap are impressive! - Marisa |

Joe, the position of the sailboat looks good to me. The rocks are close up with good details. I also like the different blue colors of the sky and the water, very delightful! - Marisa |

Peter, Thanks for your encouraging words and agreeing with me that the second photo is a better image. You were right that I should have reduced the brightness. - Marisa |

Hi, Joe,
This is amazing! I wonder where you laid your camera to get such a big balloon image. The distant woody area provides a great contrast in size. I especially like the bright colors on the balloon. The clouds, sunset glow, and water all turn into a beautiful background, setting off a stunning hot air balloon. Great work! - Marisa |

Dear Issac,
Thank you for your comments and like my introduction of this flower. This particular flower means a lot to Chinese people because we always encourage people to grab the opportunity when it comes. If not, the opportunity will flash away just like this flower. I agree with you that the brightness should be lower a bit in order to see more details of the petals. The observance of its life cycle lasts about 22 days from its first sprout on the leave. On its last day, we waited to see its blooming gradually from around 8:00 pm till 2:00 am. I recorded by shooting its change every hour. I had many failed attempts and finally figured out that I could get the best photo when the background was totally dark. It was a fun experience! - Marisa |

Dear Sheldon,
Please accept my apologies because of my traveling status and was not able to read my emails. For the background information, I did include it in my second email to PSA (I forgot to include it in my first email.) The description is as below:
Description: The official name of this epiphany flower is Epiphyllum and Dutchman's pipe cactus in English. It is a species of cactus. It is known by a romantic name as "Queen of the night" or "Moonlight Beauty" because it rarely blooms. When it does, the flower only lives for a few hours during the night. It's fun to observe its life span. The flower gradually opens around 8:00 pm and released its most magnificent charm and fragrance at the midnight. Then, it slowly droops to breathless and dies around 3:00 am. We often use the metaphor of this flower to describe the precious life and short-lived opportunity. In fact, I sent the other photo for this month. Somehow, I screwed it up. - Thank you for your feedback. Again, sorry for not being able to respond. I will make it up. - Marisa

Dear Joe,
My apologies. I am currently traveling in Taiwan and have just done with my 2-week quarantine at a hotel. Due to the unstable internet, I was not able to read my emails. Now I moved to a better hotel and I will make up for what I have missed. I do appreciate your time and comments. They are valuable and I have learned a lot from you. Really sorry! - Marisa |
