Great find and an interesting photo. The clouds justify the composition with so much sky. I do like the higher contrast version that Gary posted.

Hi Emil. I visited Badlands in September. It was my second visit. This time I didn't take many pictures and none in IR. I traveled with my dog, so I couldn't go on any trails. I like the scene and the way you cropped the final image. I find NIK Detail Extractor to be too harsh in most cases. I often fade it out and remove it completely from the sky.

Hi Palli. You created a beautiful image from a mundane scene, which is what artists do. I also prefer the warmer tones, as you presented in the final version. Cropping is perfect. It appears that you lost some texture in the brightest area of the grasses. This happened in post, since the original has good highlight details. |

Hi Gary. Did you try to spread some egg whites on the monitor? I may be back in your area in early June. I'll let you know when we get closer. I like the picture very much and the post processing, except for the window frame. This is a very subjective opinion, but I'm sharing it.

Hi Charles. The picture captures a beautiful scene. The composition is great too. You managed to recover good details in the dark areas. I'm not sure how you lightened the trees, but the tips of the branches and leaves that touch the sky appear to be a bit darker. My preference would also be to reduce clarity in the sky. I do like the clouds and the overall tonal range in the sky. |

Hi Jack. Yes, the scene is great for IR. The contrast between the leaves and the asphalt is perfect. The composition in the final presentation is good. I'm not bothered by the soft areas. It should be easy enough to remove the soft branches and leaves in the top left corner, but it's also okay to leave them. |

Hi Melanie. I like the scene and your composition. Your cropping is good too. I think that the contrast in the original image is pretty good and would have worked with just a minimal increase. As you stated, some texture is lost. |
