Isaac, certainly a fair question. I just didn't relate to the story telling elements of the photo. In my view, the pole had little significance to the weather and a sand beach normally isn't a communication of cold weather. I relate cold weather to ice and snow. I suspect to the Belgium people living near the site, it is meaningful.
Following your question, I did play with the photo. Not sure I made any improvement but I brightened the ladies coat to better indicate the cold weather and cropped out the pole on the R side which didn't add to the photo and may have been a little distracting extending from the post. |

Daniel, I find this photo excellent in all technical respects i.e. color, focus, lighting and particularly composition. The sky is outstanding a all respects. I'm afraid I differ somewhat from my peers on its story telling elements. |

Gloria, I think you have a neat image here. I like the B&W tone which adds a little drama to the scene. The detail surrounding the subject adds real interest to the photo and the lighting around the subjects adds feeling. In my view, it's unfortunate that the subjects are not facing the camera but perhaps more importantly, lack detail which I think is paramount to the story. |

I like the sharp image and the photo shows well as a B&W. I also like the low approach angle of the picture. However in my opinion, the image is too busy on the L side and the principal competes with the background, especially the Wrappers sign. I might suggest that the photo would be stronger if the principal was off-center. |

I think this is a good presentation of Clowns On Their Break. I really like the way the image is cropped to capture only the story. The photo is sharp with the background muted, excellent. The person taking a picture on the L side is a definite distraction for me. |

I really like the way you composed this photo. It's a rather simple photo and I think you maximized its impact by putting the subject on a crash point (off center-rule of thirds), keeping the subject clear of obstructions and displaying natural colors and good focus. Nice job. |
