Like Witta and Carol I see why you were drawn to this image. The moss creates a very interesting abstract and your treatment has helped to reduce the background highlights and bring detail out in the moss.
Those very bright highlights in the background make this a challenging image to work with. I try to carry a small reflector in my bag which is black on one side which I can hold behind subjects like this moss to eliminate distracting backgrounds but realize it's just not always possible or practical. |

I quite like your compositional approach on this image Mary and agree with the others that there is just a little too much negative space which is easily addressed with a tighter crop such as the example suggested by Linda. |

I like your treatment Witta and I might try your approach on some of my other holiday pix. You show another path to transforming a "nice" photo into something that has far more impact. |

I thought the image was too light after my processing and in the final step chose to darken it. Both you and Witta feel like it needs to be lighter and I see your point as it does make it look a little more watercolor like. Thank you. |

I'm sure your neighbor will be delighted with your effort here Connie. This is a very pleasing image and your border is creative and works well.
I agree with Carol that the image could be more dramatic by darkening the background. Alternately, you could consider a texture as your background to go for a very different look. |

I like what you have done here Witta. I like your decision to extract the deer and apply the majority of the Topaz processing to the background. Your result is indeed painterly.
I might add a border to this image as a finishing touch but it certainly works well as is. |

I think you have done a wonderful job of capturing faded glory here Carol. You really do have an excellent touch with your flower processing and have brought that sensibility here. I like that you removed the boundary between the wall and the base. This can lead to a "floating" flower which never feels right but the shadow from the vase grounds the image and really works. I think your decision to add paint splashes along with the vignette frames the image nicely. |

Congratulations on retirement Denise! I'm sure you will just love this next chapter.
I quite like your abstract image and it certainly made me pause to see what was going on in this image. I like your editing and agree with Witta's suggestions. Introducing the asymmetry of Witta's crop makes for a more compelling image. |
