Thanks for your support of "Jumbles" Stephen. I too have shot many jumbles over the years and just enjoy the simplicity of these sorts of compositions. As a chemist I can readily relate to your ideas regarding "packing" as it was something I studied in crystalline structures. I had not thought of packing with my eggs but appreciate you making the connection. |

I think it works well as a B&W image Linda. Being fairly monochrome to start with it's all about texture and contrast so I think your edits work well. |

Thanks for taking the time to show me your approach Bev. I too wondered whether the background was a distraction and should be removed but obviously decided to keep it. I think your edits do result in a more dramatic image and help focus us on the subject. |

I understand your perspective. My experience is that while on these family vacations all the shots I take are "grab" shots as it's just the nature of being on a tour with 30 other folks. It does get me thinking about I might process some of those images to move them towards fine art but I have not come up with an approach that is yielding results that I care for. |

It's wonderful that you got recognized for your contribution to the liturgy and I think you had a super creative idea to create custom Thank You cards reflecting the gift you received. I like the setup you came up with and your idea to include clouds and light rays. It gives your composition a feel that takes me back to my youth - well executed. I also like Georgianne's B&W treatment which seems particularly effective here. |

Well you certainly live in a beautiful part of our country Mary! I think your processing has done a very nice job of bringing out all the detail in the shadows that we miss in the original. The soft focus gives the image a very pleasing dreamy quality.
I agree that beautiful images like yours do not really fall into the fine art arena. On my recent vacation I took plenty of beautiful shots I would like to share with the group but ..... they are not fine art photos. It does have me thinking about what creative approaches might be employed to move these photos toward a fine art aesthetic. I'm at a loss but would love to hear more from our group on this topic. It has to be something we all encounter regularly. |

I think you have really exercised great creativity here Denise. It looks like we are peering at a very distant galaxy.
Your final image needs a focal point which you provided with the starburst. The issue is that the starburst does not look as organic as the rest of the image. Not sure how to address that but you are on the right track here and it is such a creative approach. |

I like your original image Witta but feel your textures do not sit comfortably here.
Prompted by Linda's image this month I thought that with the flat light in your original it might be a nice candidate for the Lisa Langell treatment. I expanded your crop as I don't like the cut off wings and wanted a more centered composition. I increased the exposure and shadows to blow most of the background out - a mask with a gradient was used to completely eliminate the background in the upper portion of the image and I selectively brought back a bit of water at the bottom to ground the image. |

I really think your original high key image is stunning and needs nothing added. It is fine art and is just gorgeous.
Lisa is a wonderful educator. I have taken a couple of online courses with her and learned a lot. Would love to participate in a live workshop with her at some point. |
