Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
77 Oct 21 Reply Thanks Georgianne. I have really gotten a lot out of Joel's approach to still life photography and hope to share more efforts with the group as I continue to apply his techniques. Oct 19th
77 Oct 21 Comment I'm with the group - these babies are adorable! You just have to love these expressions and it's easy to see why the parents love your image. The lighting is a little problematic but the group has provided some very good suggestions for addressing it. Oct 14th
77 Oct 21 Comment I really like your original image and will take what appears to be a contrarian position - I think your reflection takes this image to another level. As suggested by Denise you might try and bring a bit of water motion back but again, I really like the reflection as is. I would see if it's possible to straighten the Wells Fargo building and the building to its right in the reflection as they seem to be tilting in - even if this is messing with physics. Oct 14th
77 Oct 21 Reply Thanks for taking the time to edit my image Linda. I really like what you have brought and I would not have thought of using yellow to tone down that hi light which everyone agrees needs to be addressed. I will try your approach plus another version where I clone the hi light out and see which I prefer. Oct 14th
77 Oct 21 Reply Thanks Connie. The yellows are indeed getting boosted through my Hue/Saturation layer and I may have pulled out a little too much yellow. I did mask the flowers at probably 50% while the vase which is yellow was masked at 100%. I might need to just pull those flowers back a tad.

77 Oct 21 Reply Thanks Denise. Joel really has some nice approaches and it all seems very accessible. I'm looking forward to working with his techniques on future images. Oct 14th
77 Oct 21 Comment This is a very nicely composed image and I like how you have brought out so much detail in the flower petals. I would clone out the debris hanging off the right hand hanging flower. I also wondered what a simple texture as a background would do for this image and gave it a try. Oct 10th
77 Oct 21 Comment A lot of thought, planning and preparation have resulted in a very pleasing image. I like your edits and particularly how you have brought out all those lovely bubbles. I think you have captured that ethereal quality you were after. Oct 10th
77 Oct 21 Reply Thanks Witta. I wondered about the highlight on the vase as well. The texture was one supplied by Joel in his course. I believe he created this one but gets many of his textures from flypapertextures.com. I have a big collection of textures that I have shot over the years and am inspired to capture/create more going forward. Oct 10th
77 Oct 21 Comment I had rushed to post my original image and only noticed later that I had done a poor job of masking with my Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. Here is a more pleasing version to my eye. Oct 8th
77 Oct 21 Comment A truly beautiful image Denise. The composition is really nice with that extra little mum poking out to add interest. You have really achieved that soft painterly quality you were going for with your processing and I can easily see this one on the wall. I would not change a thing. Oct 8th
77 Oct 21 Comment This is a really beautiful image and it has taken on a very attractive painterly quality with your processing. I like how you have created your texture and agree with Linda that the dark upper right hand corner is a little distracting - I might eliminate the dark portion or flip your texture to have the darker portion on the left which might create a balance. Very nicely executed. Oct 8th
