65 Jul 23 Comment Hi Maria,

I am in such awe of your photography and artistic skills! This botanical illustration is absolutely incredible! I LOVE it...especially the background texture and framing, but most of all how you've painted in the bottom stem. Amazing!

Thank you for sharing your set up and process with us!

65 Jul 23 Comment Hi Melanie,

You've done a beautiful job isolating the two flowers. The soft background and its complementary colors really show off your cosmos blooms. The addition of the fine key stroke finishes the image perfectly. Love it!

65 Jul 23 Comment Hi Diana,

Lovely capture. The colors are very complementary! I like the diagonal composition leading my eye up to the flower. I especially like the one tiny leaf wrapping around the stem. I also agree with the others about the DOF and perhaps trying to darken the background a little. I've never heard of a bachelor button flower! I will add them to my wishlist:)

65 Jul 23 Comment Hi Rebecca, welcome to our wonderful group!

What a beautiful dahlia! You've so nicely captured the lovely swirls in the petals and the subtle purple hue on the tips. I agree with the others about using Topaz to sharpen it just a tad. I also agree with Fran's crop suggestion.

It looks like you can currently grab a 15% discount on a Topaz software subscription through PSA's website.

65 Jul 23 Reply Hi Dick,

Thank you for educating me about the flower parts:) I used autofocus. I will try manual and see if I can improve sharpness when hand holding.

I love your crop suggestion. I totally agree with you! Thank you!

65 Jul 23 Reply Thank you for your thoughtful comments, Rebecca. I agree the pistils need to be sharper. Topaz works like magic! Jul 20th
65 Jul 23 Comment Hi Fran, I absolutely love this photo...the lighting, the fog effect, the beautiful pinks and purples, the composition, the border and the effects. I saw these gorgeous flowers in a garden a few months back and had no idea what they were. I will definitely be planting a few in my own garden. So statuesque and eye-catching and your image captures their magnificence perfectly! Frame worthy for sure. Jul 13th
65 Jul 23 Comment Hi Dick,

This is gorgeous! I love the composition, complementary colors, clarity and soft green background! I agree wholeheartedly with Fran's comments above. Suggestions are often super helpful and may make us think about another way to process our image, which I totally appreciate being a newbie. However, in the end, we make our images to suit our own personal creative vision. And, in my opinion, your vision is beautiful!

I just would like to see more space at the top above that leaf. My personal feeling is that the leaf and stem are important in your image. The stem is a darker color and not distracting to my eye. My vote is to add more space to the top and leave the rest of the image as is.

65 Jul 23 Reply Hi Diana,

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I agree with you. Melanie and Fran were able to improve my image with the help of some amazing software.

65 Jul 23 Reply Hi Fran, thank you for your comments and suggestions. You're correct! It is not as sharp as I wanted. I really should have used a tripod! Your rendition looks great, but I agree with you that Topaz sharpened it a little better...amazing software! I do have Topaz, I am just afraid to use it on my flowers. I don't want to sharpen it too much! I think there is a fine line there. Thanks again! Jul 13th
65 Jul 23 Reply Thank you, Melanie! It looks terrific! I appreciate your thoughtful feedback and help! Jul 13th

77 Jul 23 Reply Thank you, Jan! Daunting, indeed:) However, it's always fun to learn a new technique! Wishing you good luck with your new projects, too! Jul 24th
77 Jul 23 Comment Interesting abstract and perfect caption, Jan.

I agree with Linda and Denise that the light areas look better darkened and the flowers could be brightened just a little to better showcase your subject. I really like the texture you've added, too!

77 Jul 23 Comment What a lovely image of your granddaughter, Mary! The beautiful, soft lighting on her face really enhances her contemplative expression. I agree with cropping in from the left to remove the white areas. You have made such gorgeous keepsake for your family. Jul 21st
77 Jul 23 Comment Hi Connie, I really like your conversion to monochrome and the use of the musical score as your background. Linda and Jan have given some interesting suggestions to try. I don't know for sure, but perhaps it might work better if the sheet music were less in focus. Jul 21st
77 Jul 23 Comment Hi Carol, such an exquisite image! I love everything about it - the composition, the conversion to monochrome, the light and the shadows, the flowy movement of her costume and the soft, ethereal background you've chosen. Beautiful work!

77 Jul 23 Comment Hi Linda,

I really like your flipped version, and how the beautiful snow and grass patterns lead the viewer's eye right up to the interesting rock formation at top right. Darkening the sky (and, I assume lowering the highlights) really added some drama to your image. Denise and Jan have given you some awesome suggestions to further enhance your lovely image of the Secret Canyon. Great job!!

77 Jul 23 Comment Hi Denise, what a beautiful, artistic image of your Gabby! Such a cute caption, too! Your post-processing effects are purrfect for this image...sorry, I couldn't resist;) I agree with the others about the tighter crop suggestion.

You have such excellent timing! Whenever I grab my camera, my kitty hightails it!
Love this!

77 Jul 23 Reply Hi Denise, Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I like your crop so much better! I tend to agree with you about the background. I think it should have been a bit more subtle in order to showcase the flower. Jul 21st
77 Jul 23 Reply Thanks for your feedback, Jan. Of course, I totally agree with you. Nothing is as beautiful as nature in all its glory. I am just learning PS, and this was my first attempt at making a fun, creative piece, but I can certainly appreciate your preference. Jul 21st
