Saying that you can recognize my style is the biggest achievement I could have hoped for! I have been working towards this for a decade. If this interface allowed me to send you a smooch emoji I would ;) |

Yes thank you. I love the rivets. My concept is to always keep the image minimalist be never completely abstract. I like to show the building materials. |

Thank you Jennifer for your comments. Doing projects is definitely an aspiration and the next phase I think in photographic artistry for me. |

Canan, I am currently involved in a yearlong seminar which deals with how to create and display a series. I plan to tell everyone more about this in next month's post, and will also share a link to the online exhibit in June. |

Jennifer, this is a lovely tree, sharp and well-exposed; however, the background detracts from the tree. I suggest you think about other angles (you now know I have no compunctions about trespassing) or locations that have fewer buildings. |

OMG no way to plan this! And the sitting bird is like, "yeah, maybe later." Kinda funny. Great shot. Send it out on every social media you got.
On my Nikon I have the Fn2 button set for situations like this. Short shutter, rapid frame rate, subject tracking, auto-iso. IF. I. COULD. ONLY. REMEMBER. TO. PUSH. IT. |

Dale, I am a big fan of the repeating graphical elements in this image; the inverted V's and U's. the stripes. It's really fund to spend time on it. The sky looks a little too crunchy. That may be JPG artifact but if it looks that way on your screen you might want to mask out some of the sharpening in that area. |

It's a good scene and good job being patient enough to wait for interesting behavior. Technically, I think we know what the detail is a little grainy: Very high ISO and maybe a tight crop. If you are shooting auto-iso consider capping the upper limit lower (whatever is good for your camera by experience -- I use 3200). I absolutely agree to shoot this at 1/1000 but you could use a shallower DOF to get that ISO down. I usually shoot birds wide open. I'd be interested in other opinions as I am NOT the bird expert. |

There's a lot to look at here and that makes for an interesting image in the category of travel or architecture. I appreciate how much you were able to improve on the raw capture. This might be my screen settings but it look like it could use some more contrast and more in the lighter tones. Check the histogram, I may be wrong. Kudos. |

I like the part of the photo you chose to emphasize, and the colors change this from boring winter to something ethereal. I agree with you about focusing the Lensbaby; I have the Velvet 56. There's a lot of hit or miss for me. Stopping down doesn't seem to help me because then the image gets too dark! I just choose subjects that allow me the time to work carefully on the focus, like you did. At 5.6-8 it's great for portraits of children. |
