This is super SHARP! And very interesting and fun. But agree with those that feel it is busy. The scene was what it was and this will make a great remembrance of an interesting moment that you captured, and lived to tell about it. :) |

Hi Dale! This image is appealing but like many many of my own floral images I think it falls a bit short of great. My issue is the focus. In my opinion only, the most successful images of a single flower either get the whole thing in focus (various ways to do this) or focus one one detail with shallow DOF, blurring the rest. This image is halfway in between. I hope you don't mind this critique and admit that it's my own personal bias. |

I am amazed at how you got a nice circle by hand. It's very appealing and colorful, I wouldn't change a thing. I have had experience with this sort of thing so please excuse me for offering some advice for the future, and for others who would try: This works best with a tripod and a lens that has a collar. I like to take a variety of different twirls, some while zooming the lens (this is fun, you just hold the focus ring steady with one hand, while rotating the camera this way or that with the other). Finally, take an image without rotating. then you can mask in a central flower that is tack sharp. The attached image is just a partial twirl on a tripod, done in a controlled setting. Have fun. |

The moodiness of the image in the cemetery setting suggests a moment of inspiration or awe, as if thunderstruck. Well done of course. I appreciate that you kept the foreground light low, rather than pushing up the shadows as some might be tempted to do. |
