Chan, I don't see a photography club problem here. Such an image merely has to be entered viewed as, or entered into an exhibition/competition as the correct category, such as abstract, creative, or collage, etc |

the deep blue came from changing the blend mode of the layer below with the one above. I don't understand blend modes, but it's easy to check them all out by hovering your mouse over the options in layer panel. |

I'll submit a series of photos here to show what happened. I was going to exercise. The water bottle on my stationary bike caught the sun and I saw tiny gas bubbles clinging to its walls. I began photographing it and obtained a stack of sequentially focused images. In stacking them, I didn't want to focus all the way through, so left it progressively more defocused towards the back. The cleaned up image is shown. It was sort of boring. I added a textured background which is a bit of the earth from Badwater Basin in Death Valley altered in photoshop with filters and such. A lot of masking ensued to let the bubbles pop through the texture unscathed. I didnt like having the background under the defocused bubbles, it was too busy, so I put a grandient mask in to block it out more towards the right. There's another version using as a background the rusty bumper of an old pickup truck. |

Nice. I like the first one (40). I don't know if that is better than your original, it's a matter of taste, or....stop me now before I write this....Dealer's Choice! |

This is really fun. A few hours in the "home lab" can be satisfying. This is creative and I like the complete stop- action, as well as the black background, provided by the flash. If your hand isn't too tired, perhaps experimenting with a base exposure that provides some of the surrounding scene and a bit of motion in the dice might be an interesting variant. |

I think you have made the ordinary very interesting with your black and white conversion. The image is very sharp and I like the shadows. |
