Almost every PSA Salon (go to https://psa-photo.org/page/exhibitions for information) has a section for PID Monochrome. That is how I got started in entering competitions. |

I really like your choice of a subject and its simplicity, a man and his hat. I am afraid this image will not do well in any competition because it is lacking in tonal contrast. The best B & W images have the full range from pure black to pure white, or at least as close as possible. I think I might also crop in on the left to eliminate the white on the left. |

I also have visited Yellowstone at least twice in the winter. I actually enjoy it more in the winter because the crowds are pretty much gone. I feel that the tree on the left pulls your eyes away from the main grouping of trees. I actually like the lighting of the original better, it seems like the trees stand out more. |

Nice tonal variations in the image, from full black to full white. The conversion to monochrome does take away from the distractions. However it seems to me that the image is too busy. I think I would like to see a wide open aperture so that some of the distracting parts of the image were blurred. |

First I had to Google "Barrel Vault" to find out what it was. I like what you have done by adding interest with the addition of the "God" image. I would like to see more of the "God" image and perhaps less of the curves of the barrel. |

This image definitely fits the minimalist category and is quite well done. Another approach I remember to produce such an image is to have a flat bed scanner (probably gives away my age) and lay the stems on the scanner bed and bring the scan into Photoshop. The white border separate from the background, but also add to the simplicity of the image. |

I increased the contrast and vibrance before converting to Black and White. I think it improved the image??? |
