36 Jul 25 Reply Hi Larry. Beautiful photos and thanks for sharing them along with the details. I wish I got as far as Window Falls!! When I visited, I attempted the Hanging Rock trail but didn't get far because of the packed snow and slippery ice as the trail started to incline. I also tried Upper Cascades Trail since it was short but it was icy as well. Without boot spikes and poles, I opted for the easy hike by the lake instead. Of course, having my dog pulling me on the icy trail didn't make things any easier!! Jul 26th
36 Jul 25 Reply Thanks for your feedback Grace. I am still working on finding the right "green" tone and will hopefully create a preset as a starting point. I like your idea about the removal of the log. Jul 26th
36 Jul 25 Reply Thanks for your helpful tips.

36 Jul 25 Reply Thanks Larry. I agree that the different shades of green come down to personal preference, and I'm still exploring which ones I like best. Using a seasonal reference is a great start to help me choose more natural green tones. In LR, I also work with HSL panel to fine tune though I don't always start with adjusting the camera profile. Thanks for that tip. I plan to experiment with various green shades and maybe develop a few presets along the way. Jul 12th
36 Jul 25 Comment Hi Adi. I really like the old world/new world contrast in this image. For me, it tells a story of evolution. The slow-motion car naturally leads my eye to the clock tower, which is nicely framed by the arches. The car lights are a bit bright but they work fine with the scene. The vivid color suits the location and the street photography style. My only suggestion would be to straighten the image - quick fix can be done in LR using the transform panel. Jul 12th
36 Jul 25 Comment Hi Gokul. Good for you being out in challenging weather. I also enjoy shooting in inclement weather conditions. You did a great job removing the mist in this image but for me the added mist tells a different story. As Larry mentioned, there's quite a bit of white space from the blank sky and sun glare on the water which distracts from the main subject. A polarizer or positioning the camera angle down toward the water can help with the glare. For me, the composition with the boat, ramp, and people on the steps works and balances the scene. I would suggest cropping out a significant portion of the white areas - perhaps using 16:9 aspect ratio. I'm also curious about the choice of f2.8 for this shot. Any cropping in post production with this aperture can affect sharpness and increase background blur. Jul 12th
36 Jul 25 Comment Hi Grace. I do the same thing - making quick stops along mountain roads while shooting, which isn't the safest habit lol. I usually keep my camera on my lap or the front seat just in case I round a corner and suddenly an amazing scene or wildlife appears. I really like this image. The stormy sky with dramatic white streaks and low hanging clouds add intrigue to the mountain peak. The bright yellow trees add a nice frame. I also agree with Larry's suggestion about the white balance and Michael's idea to increase the contrast or possibly try dehaze to add depth. Jul 12th
36 Jul 25 Comment Hi Michael. This mountain range is beautiful and being in its presence makes it hard not to capture its grandeur. This photo nicely showcases the jagged peaks and the blanket of trees in the foreground. However, like you, I have so many wide angle shots of similar scenes and over time they blend together. In response to your question, unless there's a vibrant or stormy sky or incredible lighting, I prefer to use a telephoto lens to isolate and emphasize the unique details instead of the mountain range. I'm also drawn to simple, minimalistic compositions and a telephoto helps me to achieve that. Additionally, I also use Larry's suggestion for making the foreground the focal point and a mountain as background. Jul 12th
36 Jul 25 Comment Hi Larry. This park is truly wonderful. I was there last winter but couldn't hike to the top because the trail was covered in icy snow, and my boots lacked the necessary traction. The cool and warm colors, rock textures, and the composition angle all work beautifully together. I'm especially drawn to the 2 solitary trees perched on the rock. My only suggestion would be to remove the small bush-like greenery at the base of the larger tree - just my preference to create a more striking appearance. Great image. Jul 12th

47 Jul 25 Reply Thanks for your feedback Al. Showcasing just the hands is a good idea and I will try it with a few other unedited photos I have. Thanks! Jul 26th
47 Jul 25 Comment Thanks so much Robert. Jul 10th
47 Jul 25 Reply Thanks for your input Kirsti. I usually apply vignettes to create a natural framing effect. I appreciate you sharing an alternative approach to enhancing the image. Jul 10th
47 Jul 25 Comment Hi Al. What a beautiful location for photography. I share Kirsti's preference for the color version over the b/w. The complimentary blues and yellow/orange tones highlight the natural features of the canyon. Although you mentioned that the sky's color isn't entirely accurate, I find the deep blue stormy sky quite effective. It adds a dramatic mood that enhances the image. I'm a bit surprised that with an aperture of f/19, the original photo doesn't show more DOF. Regarding the b/w version, I think it works overall, but the sharpening applied in PP gives it somewhat of a harsh texture. For me, I prefer a smoother, natural look, so reducing the clarity and sharpening would help soften the edges. Jul 10th
47 Jul 25 Comment Hi Kirsti. What a fantastic workshop and great opportunity to be creative. I really like the colors and tones in the original image as the subject and the background are harmonious. A sense of movement is especially visible in her hair. I also like the placement of the subject in the original as its adds more context and depth to the portrait. The B/W conversion works well, but I notice some detail is lost in the hat and jacket and the square crop places strong emphasis solely on the subject. I think this crop would work if the subject was less blurry. My only suggestion for portraits would be to ensure the eyes are sharp or at least the eye closest to the viewer. For me the eyes are the focal point in a portrait and draws the me into the image. Jul 9th
47 Jul 25 Comment Hi Ed. Very nice image. Tanks hold a special meaning for me since my father was a tank driver in WWII and I have a collection of old war photographs. The b/w conversion here really gives off that historical feel. The lighting and sky replacement add moody shadows and highlights, suggesting a sense of realism. The texture and detail throughout are great. Well done. Jul 9th
47 Jul 25 Comment Hi Robert. Nicely executed architectural photo. The composition feels harmonious and well-balanced with the leading lines and curves. The repeating archways add a nice visual pattern to the image. I also like the texture and reflection. I'm curious how the image might change if the shadows within the archways were lifted and a bit of dehaze was added to the sky - could introduce more drama to the scene. Beautiful image. Jul 9th
