Thanks Bill. I was in Western NC. Since NC is still considered a southern state, I was very surprised to see it. |

I like the idea of this image. The sharp stars and the natural color of the sky itself are well-executed. The deep slopes of the mountains forming a "V" shape draws my eye into the frame, and the reflecting light on the water adds depth and interest to the composition. For me, the placement of the chair in the foreground blocks the water reflection and the connection between the two mountain slopes, which are both nice elements in the overall composition. I also see what appears to be a slight halo or fringing along the mountains, which could be due to local light pollution. In the black and white version of the image, the camera angle works a bit better, as the chair is angled differently in the frame. The visible handprints on the back of the chair add an interesting element of texture and interest, and the lights on the right side of the frame are reduced. |

One of the best aspects of the structure is its ability to look great from any angle. This perspective works nicely to show off the detail while the color adds warmth. The lighting works nicely and the clear blue sky serves as the perfect backdrop. My only comment is the temple appears crowded within the frame. As you previously mentioned the ability to move further away wasn't an option. For me using AI to expand the surrounding environment may provide a more balanced composition. Nice job!

The image of Mount Hood is beautiful. Good composition, with the mountain ridges serving as a leading line that draws my eye towards the summit. The clouds add an intriguing element to the scene, complementing the mountain's form. The bright sunlight hitting the snow is effective without being overpowering. For me it adds depth and dimension to the image. My motto is "I brake for photos". Good job. |

Thanks for sharing this documentary-style image featuring the fish drying structure. I appreciate learning about the purpose and significance of these structures. For me, the simplicity of the sky beautifully balances the smooth, snowy foreground.
Your decision to convert it to black and white effectively draws more attention to the drying structure and mountains. For me, I feel that the crop appears a bit tight on the left side. Looking at the original, I wonder how the image would look if it were adjusted to a 16:9 aspect ratio, incorporating more of the sea and land on that side of the frame. Just a thought! |

The sky captivates me with its simplicity, soft colors, and diverse cloud textures Combined with the understated foreground it creates a harmonious composition. I used to envision dust clouds as being much thicker and rounder, but I guess they can take on various shapes depending on the amount of dust present. There is just enough foreground to keep the sky as the focal point. Glad you were able to capture this event and add it to your everglades portfolio. |

Glaciers are truly awe-inspiring natural wonders. The sheer size and scale of these ice formations are amazing to look at. I find this particular image to be relaxing and calming, with its icy blue hues and the tranquil waters. The composition, lighting, and format of the image nicely showcases the Alaskan scenery. Most importantly, congrats on hitting 50 states! |

Thanks Michael. Not really sure about the light rays but I did google it and it said "Vertical white bands often referred to as "rayed bands," caused by streams of charged particles interacting with Earth's atmosphere". |

Hi Larry, thanks for your comments. I wish it was a meteor on the left but it looks like a satellite because of it's solid, uniform line. There were also several horizontal sateliites at the lower part of the frame. Regarding the vertical light rays, per google, "Vertical white bands often referred to as "rayed bands," are caused by streams of charged particles interacting with Earth's atmosphere". I was surprised to see the white bands when photographing. Although there were no dancing ribbons of light, for NC, I'll take it lol.
I'm off to the mountains tomorrow for the Perseids. Hope you get to photograph them. |

Hi Isaac -Seeing egrets perched on the backs of hippos is a fascinating sight. However, upon first glance, it was challenging for me to discern what the egrets were standing on without reading the description. The lighting in the image is good, and the colors are visually appealing. As mentioned by the others, a smaller grouping of egrets and hippos could have made the subject matter more eye-catching. For me the image still captures an intriguing interaction between these two different species. |

Hi Adrian - witnessing a whale raise its tail above the water is an unforgettable experience. The composition is good and captures this moment beautifully. The vibrant blue water contrasts nicely with the white splashes and the inclusion of the bird creates a visually appealing image. |

Hi Chris - thank you for sharing this interesting wasp! The first thing that caught my attention was the impressive length of its leg and the details throughout the image. The soft background nicely highlights the wasp, allowing its colors to stand out.
I found the information you provided to be quite helpful, although I must admit that I hope to never encounter one in person! Nice capture! |

Hi Maria - great job capturing this swift pollinator! The harmonious blend of purple and green colors really draws my attention to the image. Both the flowers and the moth are sharp showcasing details. I'm curious if these moths are uncommon, as I don't believe I've seen one before. To highlight the moth even more, I would recommend cropping the image slightly. |

Hi Bruce - the photograph of the bison and bird is captivating. I particularly appreciate the contrast between the large bison and the small bird, especially with the bison gazing directly at the camera while the bird looks away. The colors in the image enhance the overall composition. Additionally, I share Adrian's perspective on cropping the image slightly to position the bison off-center and Maria's comment about the artifact in the water. |
