36 May 22 Reply Thanks for the inverted layer tip and comments. I plan to try both your's and Larry's star reflections tip. May 22nd
36 May 22 Comment When I first looked at the image I saw beautiful gardens on a perfect sunny day but my eyes immediately went to the branches at the top and left. The blue sky and nice color in the water makes it very soothing. The rocks, greenery, and house holds my interest. The image would be more compelling to me without the branches and bright beach. Also agree with Michael about leveling. I do like Larry's crop but at the end of the day it's your vision. Very nice image. May 11th
36 May 22 Reply Thanks for the star reflections tip. I will try it. May 11th

36 May 22 Comment The conversion to black and white is a good choice and you did it well. The leading lines of the fence and the cloud formation keeps me in the middle of the image and your subject. Nicely done. May 10th
36 May 22 Reply Thanks for your feedback Michael. I have another photo similar to this one which I added star reflections before printing. Comparing both, I see your point. I always feel like I'm cheating when I add something that wasn't there lol.

36 May 22 Comment I'm glad you didn't edit the image to B/W. The overall blue tone screams COLD! It's probably me, but does the horizon line sag a little to the right? Regardless great image. May 3rd
36 May 22 Comment I like that you decided to go on a night with clouds and how the light hits them. I also like how you captured the light beams at different shutter speeds going from narrow to wide. The waves are nicely done. Did you use Tungsten light for your white balance to stress the blues in the sky? Also, I'm wondering why the light beam on the water didn't carry through more on the waves like it does during a sunrise. For me brightening the darker section of the waves would enhance the curve of the waves. Very nice image. May 3rd

72 May 22 Comment Thanks Mary. I typically use lightroom or photoshop to select the subject and make local adjustments but I'm curious to check out the actions you mentioned. May 16th
72 May 22 Reply Thanks Adrian! May 16th
72 May 22 Reply Thanks Randy. The sky was pretty flat that day so not much texture. I like your idea about increasing the saturation a bit and the square crop.

72 May 22 Reply Thanks for your comments Marie. The light was flat that day but I will definitely consider your recommendation! May 16th
72 May 22 Comment I'm always impressed with the cameras in the newer phones and this was nicely done. It was a good idea to add a vignette and the square crop makes it stand out. The source of the light makes the anemone look harsh to me. There's great detail but I'm wondering if the clarity was brought down or a glow was added, it would soften the light and make the image more dreamy.

72 May 22 Comment Good choice to darken the background as it makes the magnolia bud stand out.
It's so nice to have the select subject tool in Lightroom. It makes editing simple.
I like how the soft hairs are back lit and there is a kiss of light on the tip. Nice creative approach. Would love to see the full bloom!

72 May 22 Comment I really like the story this image tells. It reminds me of the Audubon Swamp in South Carolina except with gators not crocs. Great capture. I do agree with the others about the crop. However for me I would probably do a square crop and slightly extend the left side and add content aware fill in order to give some breathing room between the crocs snout and the edge of the image. I like the light on the main egret and the softer ones in the background. The croc adds a touch of fierceness to the image. Very nice job. May 11th
72 May 22 Comment Perfect timing with capturing this great bridge and with the motorcyclist. As Isaac mentioned the mountains and clouds makes a very nice background. One distraction for me is the branch to the right of the bridge. Not sure if it's part of the bridge or not. For me, if it's not connected to the bridge I would probably remove it.
I like the crop. If I did anything it would make it more centered. Also, adding a vignette and brightening the center of the bridge with a radial gradient will help to keep your eye on the subject. Very nice image.

72 May 22 Comment The detail in the image draws my attention and the branches tell the story of nesting. Very nice bird in flight. I'm struggling with the crop. I don't shoot a lot of bird photos but loosing part of the wings and having a tighter crop when in flight makes me feel like there's no place for it to move or flap its wings. However cropping is art and a photographer's expression. Great job and I'm sure you're enjoying your camera and lens! May 11th
72 May 22 Comment Bruce, great portrait image. The image is sharp, background blurred, colors vibrant, and the catch light adds life! The artistic form of the perch adds to the birds beauty. May 11th
72 May 22 Comment Thanks Isaac. I'm looking forward to participating in this group. I didn't think about cropping the image as I wanted to see more of the nest to show their enviornment.
I see your point about the crop and I do like.

Typically when the light is flat and the sky is gray I like making the sky more high key. Maybe to balance the light better between my subject and the sky, I could have pushed the tonal range toward the lighter end and made it a high key image. Just a thought. Thanks for your comments!
