Hi Greg,
You are awesome! Thanks so much for the suggestions - especially the "darkening" idea to help the main subject stand out more, and the vignette. I do plan to do a bit more work on it. And, I like the brown-ish mat. Our club displays on a grey background, but now that I see your version, the black seems a bit harsh for this image.
Thank you!

Hi Greg,
Sorry, but I must not have communicated which was my MAIN image very clearly. I'm attempting to attach it here, so maybe you can see it better now. I would love to hear what you have to say. If this doesn't work, maybe I could email it to you directly...?
Thanks for posting.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the feedback on the submitted image. I really intended for everyone to comment on the "Original". (I must not have communicated clearly which was which.) But since, everyone seems to like the ACTUAL original, I might just flip that one (good suggestion) and submit it for our critique.
And thanks for reaffirming my attempt as actually meeting the minimalist objective.

Hi Ingrid,
That's a good idea to clone out some of those other, taller stalks. I'll give that a try.
Thanks for the feedback - and for the vote on a title. That one was on my short list!

Hi Erin,
It's nice to meet you!
Thanks for the comments. I guess the "as shot" photo actually would qualify - but doing the work was educational and kinda fun!
I'll let you all know what I decide to do.
Thanks

What a dramatic portrait!
You captured her hair perfectly, with nice, sharp focus.
You might consider cloning out the emblems on her sleeves. They seem to be a bit distracting. Come to think of it, so are her hands. Have you tried cloning those out, also to really bring the focus on all that wonderful hair? Just a thought...
Great capture!

Welcome Erin!
This is a wonderful action shot. You managed to freeze the throwing action, while creating a sense of movement with the dust cloud at his feet. I like that you cropped it in to bring the focus on this often-overlooked player. (I was a catcher for a bit, too!)
I might suggest that you crop it even more from the right to eliminate all of the fans over there. They really don't add anything to your story. This would move your subject more into the third of the frame instead of dead center.
Great capture!

Wow - what a striking photo!
You did an amazing job capturing that sky - and also post-processing to combine it with the stunning chapel.
Part of me likes that the chapel seems to be leading us into that sky, but the OCD part of me really wants those walls to be more perpendicular!
Great job!

Wow - my first thought was "where is his head?!?" This is a great capture.
I like that you darkened the background to bring more emphasis on the horse and rider. (It was nice of him to wear that white shirt! It draws your eye right in.)
However, that other guy with the white hat... Maybe you could clone him out completely - or at least flip him around so he looks like he's enjoying the action!
Awesome shot!

This is a lovely flower portrait!
Great job on blurring the background to make the subject really pop. I'm guessing the petal that you re-created is the one at the "4 o'clock" position. You did a nice job with that, but it is just a bit "muddy" on the upper portion. I doubt I would have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.
Beautiful shot!

Hello Group 14 Friends!
Just a note to let you know that the "featured" photo (August 2023 - Oil Painting) is actually the unedited original. I would love your comments on the edited one that is labeled "Original".
I would also love some ideas for a title. Some thoughts are:
Golden Guardian
Solitary Sea Oat
Leader of the Pack
...or any other ideas you might have!
Thanks!
